Multiple Choice Poll. Voters: 21. You may not vote on this poll
Did your aftermarket clutch fail?
Did your aftermarket clutch fail?
Although I have ~20k miles on my stocker, I know that sooner or later I will be replacing my clutch. I have read through tons of "Which clutch is the best" threads, and I would like to get a general idea of the number of people that have had failures with their aftermarket clutches sorted by brand. Please vote in this poll with the clutches you have had on an Evo and if it failed or not.
I would consider a failure to be anything causing the clutch not to work properly besides the following scenarios: Either A. having the friction material wear out, or B. having the springs loosing their clamping force(but not breaking) after more than 100 or so launches or <15k miles of spirited driving.
After voting in the poll, please post your miles that your clutch lasted with the approximate whp, and give a short detailed description of any failures that occured.
Also, you can vote more than once in case you had multiple failures, and this thread is not ment to turn into a manufacturer/vendor bash, so please leave that for your own thread. Lets let the poll results speak for themselves.

its not all about "which clutch is the best" its about which clutch best suits your needs. i have an act street disc with bolt ons @ 25ish psi and never had any problems. Good luck with your choice!
If you are looking for a more aggressive clutch, you can also go with the Quartermaster twin disk. It is definitely a performance oriented clutch, but damn it's great at the track. The shifting is awesome and it's definitely suitable for DD if need be.

Good day! I have a Exedy twin and I love it! Something to consider for the failure part also is the installer or pre-existing problem that the user thought was clutch related. My setup is a very modest 320whp on a mustang dyno (mods in sig), still running the stock 05 turbo with the EBC set at 23.5-24 psi. 300ft.lbs of torque at 3850 rpm. No track launches but a few times there has been some "spirited driving". Thanks for making this poll I think this will be very informative.

had a act hdss for 20k, 5k of those miles were with a 35r 500whp, no launches, daily driving and some highway pulls. Went back to stock turbo for 15k miles, daily driving, couple auto cross and prolly 20 passes at the strip, 320whp dynojet, nothing but clutch release issues all the time, it destroyed my trans and was because of a couple machining issues with the clutch disk. parts that wernt supposed to touch the pressure plate when the clutch was release were, and the disk had nothing left on it.
Have exedy twin now.

im telling you man get a clutch masters stage 3 from vivid racing with a clutch masters flywheel... i went with that setup i have a turbo back intercooler piping and intake... my car has had the clutch in for about 3500 miles and its great... then adjust the clutch pedal a few times and your going to love it... feels great and not as strong because its not a 6 puck..
Ive had many clutches in my day.....and from my experences if you get a clutch that can hold tons of power and you car is not making much power it will burn it up quicker. That does not make much since but its the truth, so basically dont over do it.
