am i crazy or is my gauge broken

whats up guys,
ever since i bought my car my oil psi gauge has been a little weird its like the gauge has a mind of its own

When it first started reading low i posted and someone said that the low readings were due to the mounting position of the sender. I was OK with this and it was always consistently low so i have been dealing with it. Lately it seems like its always at zero and just barely goes up to twenty or so when you boost it. The car runs awesome i would definitely know if something felt wrong or it was really 0 psi. When its cold and thew oil is thicker the gauge reads high as it should. The stock oil light has never come on so i know the gauge is just reading low.

The question i have is can i buy the kit to put the pickup near the oil filter because right now the gauge is about as use less as *i*s on a bull. Any info or links would be awesome im very **** about my car and this is really starting to bother me

where is the sender located now ?
When was the last time you changed your oil?
How long have you had the gauge/sender installed?
what brand are they?

Yea what type of gauge is it? My prosport oil pressure gauge worked for like two days and now it just stays around 20 psi at all times and never moves, it jitters back and forth about half a psi even when the car is not started, iv tried everything to fix it and gave up, it had been this way for about a year now. My other prosport gauges work fine though.

This is what I have:

Run this line to the oil filter housing. I mounted the sender on the firewall to reduce vibratios. Reads very high on startup, 10-20PSI @ warm idle.

I have the Defi BF gauge and the greddy oil block adapter. works really well. I have about 15,000 miles on the sender now and have no problems with it at all. start up at 20psi and idle at 8-10psi. WOT at 110+psi.

I had a problem with my pro sport too. It always read kind of high, at idle it would be 20 psi but when i would get on the gas a little it would bury it to 100. Now it just sits at 100 psi all the time, called pro sport, they said they would replace it so i sent it back today. The guy that helped me was Glenn. All my other pro sport gauges work great.

First of all, don't listen to retards on here that tell you to run your oil to 5000mi. before changing.

ok, you are going to have to find the sender. Start at the gauge and trace the wires back to the sender. You may have a broken wire, loose ground, chaffed wire-causing a short, etc..
If all those things are ok then it is the sender itself. you can buy a replacement for autometer senders.
