Head gasket change during springs, retainers, and cam install.

Been planning to change cams and springs and retainers, head studs lightport match intake and exhaust. I need recommendation for those who has done it.

Which head gasket did you end up using?

1) Reused the stock ones?

2) New OEM?

3) Thicker aftermarket? (Will this lose compression?=lose hp?)

Set up: All supporting mods on stock head and block. HTA 35R .82 AR turbo.
Fuel 91 and E-85 octane via map switch.

Thank you

How much boost are you running? A thicker head gasket would cause you to lose compression (not too much, but it would decrease), as well as some power. Would it be noticeable? Not sure. OEM gaskets are really pretty good, and a lot of people have made some real power on. In most cases, if you blow an oem gasket, an aftermarket would have as well (not always the case, but you get the idea). The other good thing about an oem is you do not need the mating services to be 'mirror like' as you do with some aftermarket hg's.

Your choice though...

Boost on 91 after my retune would be 27psi max. E-85 fuel not sure what psi I will be running I am waiting until next year once the dust settles(meaning if there's any set-back running an e-85 fuel) I prefer to change the headgasket once but I see a thicker aftermarket has a compromise.
