4g64 W/evo head head gasket
I've never heard that of the 4G64 block. Maybe it's because they are using Cometic gaskets? I think I called RRE and they recommended Cometic. Maybe I'm wrong.
I ran 41 psi a few weeks ago at the track. No problems. Run 30 psi on pump. HKS gasket seems to be good. I went slightly over ARP spec on torqueing them down and used a ton of ARP assembly lube.

I do not know what kind of head gaskets RRE uses. I personally would not use one (the Cometic). Hell, maybe we'll spec out our own 87mm headgasket here in a bit.
Although I've never heard of a story of headgasket issues. Norris Designs does 4G64 with massive power, AMS does with their 2.3RR, etc... It could be down to people opting for Cometic thinking the HKS 86mm was not large enough because they never measured it?!
Yep makes sense.

So, we really don't know all of the details. I have heard of various shops engines that go boom, but that info doesn't make it to the forums. And hey, sometimes things do go south even with a well-built motor, but in Internet land that creates major drama.AMS uses a custom headgasket, so I'll go out on a limb and say they probably didn't use Cometic as their supplier. Don't know anything about Norris and I don't know what RRE uses or has used in the past.
Yes totally agree with what your saying, except your spreading a rumor of a head gasket issues with 4G64 without even knowing what gasket was used or identifying who specifically had a problem.
I can tell you, I've been on 4G64 / 35R for over a year. Never had a head gasket issue. 2.2 bar on pump gas. HKS gasket. I just don't want to scare people from 4G64 without good cause.

This info was given to me by a very helpful tuner in the UK:
I use the HKS gasket on my 4G64 because I am on stock bore 86.5mm so it works perfect. I called A LOT of Evo shops in the states for answers, really everyone was clueless, even some shops that are supposed to know about 4G64 stuff. I got the same answers about Cometic and I was like, "Uhm isn't that gasket thought to be crap" and they were like "uhhh hmm no?".
Get the HKS if you are 4G64 it's expensive though. I got mine from Sean Ivey who got it sent to me same day, thanks Sean for great service!

Regarding head studs, I'm using ARP L19 studs from Titan Motorsports.

RRE has intimated there was an issue (in their experience) over 30 psi and they've upgraded to 1/2" studs. They've built numerous 4G64 blocks. Now, perhaps it is a headgasket issue, but I don't know what headgasket they use.
ahh, i already bought arp head bolt but standard one, what will be my boost limit? with 4g64 setup on HTA35R, and btw you guys have problem with evo pump on 4g64? any kit for this? any DIY site?

Head gasket
The Power Enterprise is a stopper gasket, which will not work very well with your cooper head gasket.
You need to go with a non stopper type. HKS has one.
BTW - The o rings made on your block are touching each other, as opposed to the individual O rings made by AMS.
Do you have an opinion on which way to go?
Thx
Ronny

what do people do for timing... i was told -3.5 degrees both intake and exhaust with evo head on 4g64 block since the deck height throws the timing /cam gears off
Hi
I am considering doing my engine at Lesco. I understand that you had a std MLS gasket that the stopper was bored out and the compression was held by the O ring.
Did it work for you, or you are changing to the power enterprise gasket.
Please let me know ASAP.
Thx
Ron

PM sent. Yes, I'm using an OEM headgasket with an o-ringed block. I'll have the engine running shortly, I don't think there will be any issues. I have talked with a few EVO engine builders and they have used this setup sucessfully.
