brain crower s3 vs cosworth m2.. worth $$?

hey, ive been searching and no one has compared these 2 cams, i have read that they are very different, and the cosworth out preform the BC but the BC is 1/3 the price..

my setup (some parts are still on the list) TBE, Intake, tbe LICP, boost controler (30 psi ish) bov etc.. now some **** is sitting in my garage waiting to go on so i can tune it once... now if i go with the BC s3 cams, id reach my goal sooner, or if i went with the cosworth m2s, itd take longer...

so the question is, is there even much of a difference between these two? such a difference that you would pay an extra 450 for?? this is for an IX by the way

I think I would get the Kelfords or the cosworths. AMS did a test on all those cams. Look it up. It clearly shows the difference.

590 for an IX.. and luckily i have a friend whose a local distributer (mostly honda stuff, but got some evo hookups for me) who can get me BC stage 3 cams for 280 shipped to myt porch

but im doing a little more in depth research on the kelfords and i think thats what im going to end up getting.. plus 80 hp on the AMS charts, with clean idle and drivability.. i think i might be sold.. ams also shows BCS3 as a rough idle and the lopes are off... think ill spend the extra $ to save my valvetrain from damage

crower cams for the 9 are pure crap.

the 27X's lost 40whp on a 9 we tuned. The 280's made the same power as stock.

I would go cosworth over crower any day of the week. It is indeed a "you get what you pay for" type of thing in this instance.

The kelfords are good as well but are slightly more "lopey" then the cosworth M2's.

I've seen the M3's make 10-15wtq more than the M2's with the same type of mods, on stock 9 turbo, on 91 octane even.

ahh some actual information!
so crowers are out of the picture completly... now i have turned to the M2s or kelfords... ive seen great reviews on both, both negative and positive..

i dont think i mentioned i will be running meth inj. too.. do one of these cams outpreform the other, but does not harm drivability (STOCK valvetrain)

We would not recommend any Brian Crower products.

There are obviously other variables affecting the power output. It's funny how some people will take the power gains shown by the AMS test as if it's written in the bible, then another person claims a 40whp loss from the same cams! Factual information?

I'm not saying either brand is "better", just pointing out the large amount of misinformation that circulates the forums. Very rarely does someone perform a REAL side by side test with only ONE variable changing. Figure out what your goal is, then do your research.

I have Braian crower 272s on my car, my friend has same car same mods minus the cams (his are stock) and I made about 15 whp more than he did on the same dyno, on the same day. Also, before my cam install our cars ran exactly neck and neck. Just my 2 cents. This could very well be a once case thing though. I will be finding a different cam soon. I want to try other cams too. For those who want to know, we run 93 octane here.

The cosworth and kelford 272s seem to behave pretty similar. You'll get noticeable torque gains and your horsepower will pick up quite a bit midrange as well with a nice peak. All this depends on the tune ofcourse. Dollar for dollar though, the Kelfords cannot be beat. PM me if you're interested in a set.

I'm looking at the list of cars I've tuned this year and the Brian Crower have the lowest numbers on average for the IX The Cosworth do seem to be performing better.
