Not so smooth shifts......

I used the clutch pedal adjustment mentioned in another thread and it made a huge difference through all my gears - except my 3rd gear gremlin.

I was having some notchy gear work shifting from 2nd to 3rd. I took it to the dealer and had the 3rd and 4th gear synchros replaced (under warranty). 3rd still has the same problem being just a little notchy upshifting from 2nd.

1) Any ideas on what else to look for regarding the 3rd gear thing

2) Can this clutch adjustment wear the clutch prematurely by over compensating and/or by masking a bigger problem?

3) Is it time for a new clutch?

I have an '06 IX SE with 21k miles and I just bought it used about 5 months ago. I just installed a short throw shifter with poly bushings and a stainless clutch cable which didn't make any difference with this problem.

Any feedback appreciated

When my clutch was on the way out, it would cause notchy shifting. About a week or two after that it started slipping. I had about 30k on the original clutch.

Thanks for the info.

I haven't noticed it slipping, but it just hasn't had that smooth of engagement since I bought it. I wondered if it was just something I had to get used to.Adjusting the clutch pedal definately made a difference except for 3rd gear. I'm worried that if I adjust it any more the clutch pedal will be sitting in my lap.

Anyway........
