i have an 05 evo 8 with less than 20k miles on it, when i bought it the traction control system was disconected, afterwards i discover that the previous owner sealed close all lines that traction control had, i got told by him that it was cause it had a aftermarket center dif..(i dont trust him) either ways i went to the track 3 days ago and after 1st lunch from 6-6.5 rpm it made a loud noise and ever since then its has a loud grinding sound around 1.5-2.5 rpm crusing or when ur going fast and let the pedal go (using engine to brake) and if I press clutch while its doing the sound it will stop instanlly ... at idle is reaaallllyyyy quiet grinding sound u can barely tell, it doesnt do it if u r pressing firmlly the gas pedal like slowly raising speed, it did a sound similar to that when i 1st got it but it was that the dumb *&$% that had it, didnt had the tranny filling plug in and level was low. i fix that and didnt do the noise again what could this possible be???????????

all gears engage perfectly no grinding on gear or shifting.... please advice....

 

Transfer case. Mine whines in first (loud) and a little in second, more so on engine deceleration. Are you hearing this noise in high gears like 4th and 5th?

when accelerating in 1st, mine whines loud between 2- 3k, the fades.

THESE EVOS HAVE THIER OWN PERSONALITIES.

yes def the sound is almost the same.. guess ill have to hit the track a couple of times and break it ... o well ty

 

That whine you hear in 1rst and second is not in the TC its those gears in the trans.

 

Then why have they gotten louder and louder?
