Need Help on MAP Sensor

This is on an 03 Evo VIII

I'm switching from a stock to a JDM MAP Bar 3 sensor. I have encountered something that I haven't seen mentioned in the threads.

When I pull out the stock sensor, there is a dark gold insert-like looking surface with a very small hole in it. I know it doesn't look dark gold in the picture, but it is.

The stock sensor has a small nipple on it .

The new JDM sensor is a simple hollow cap

Do I use the old nipple on the new sensor?

If NOT, do I pull out the "gold insert" (if that is even possible)?

I need to know by tonight. I'm converting to E-85 at 9:30 tomorrow morning and getting it tuned.

1. the gold (insert?) with the hole,
3. the Stock sensor (USDM
2. the new sensor.

I've owned the car since it was new, so this is not somebody else's mod, etc...

Thanks!

Interesting... I haven't seen that before. Remove the gold insert. Put a thin coat of oil on the JDM MAP sensor o-ring, and pop it in. There should be a firm seal between the MAP sensor o-ring and the intake manifold.

We took a chance this morning and just put the JDM sensor in without any other modification.

After making the prescribed changes to the ROM, everything seem to be working ok. I still need to fine tune the Altitude offset, but we were pretty close.

The nipple on the old sensor does not appear to be swap-able, we watched for odd behavior from the MAP readings, but they seemed OK, so we left the gold insert as it was.

I have the same gold insert. '06 IX GSR

Didn't get in the way of the JDM MAP installation, but then again I think I'm having boot leak issues now. They may have already been there before installing the JDM MAP. I'll find out this weekend when I do a boost leak test whether its the MAP sensor that's leaking.
