9 & 10 Second cars --Drivetrain??'s

I've been a member on the site for a little while mostly browsing and researching. I'm so impressed with how well the Evo's get down the track as I come from a turbo FWD car. One thing I really haven't gotten a feel for as of yet is how well the drivetrain holds up in these cars when running 5-650awhp and in the low 10, high 9second zone. There is a large handful of cars in Ohio alone running this fast and I was hoping to get some feedback on what to expect. If you have broken parts, what did you break, and how expensive is it to repair.

Thanks for reading!

Chris

Most of the evo's running that much hp/ or those times typically need the transfer cases built and transmissions.. And depending on what tires you want to run maybe a rear diff and rear axles..

I have a built transmission/ t-case but i snapped a left rear axle two weeks ago after running 10's almost all season, then this past weekend just wiped out the rear diff.. I have been running a drag radial by BFG all season but some of the guys running slicks are able to push the stock rear end and axles a little further..

Your in Ohio , my suggestion is take it to Daniel Buschur for the bushwacker upgrade. Its economical yet strong. And holds up. Its basically in all of the fast Buschur built cars . Including their black drag car and Davids RS nuff said!!

I have a Bushwacker rebuilt transmission and the rest of the drivetrain is stock. 50,000 miles and 49 passes at the strip by me....don't know how many before me though, probably very few or none.

I will say that my t-case started leaking a couple weeks ago, so I pulled it out and sent it to Buschur to check it out and rebuild it. Daniel got it today and informed me that I have an open front differential and is suprised it lasted this long as high 10 second cars are breaking them all the time. I just purchased an Evo9 LSD off here today and am having it sent to Buschur to put in my t-case.

I had Daniel drop in a RS front diff for me, as I have a 03-04 with the open diff. It used to wheel hop all the time , which is usually death to the TC. I feel far more confident in my TC .

Buschwacker Tranny
Shep Stage 2 TC (04RS LSD upgrade)
Stage 5 rear axles (not needed, I had a cv joint break and Dave had a spare set and hooked me up and they were in stock) otherwise theyd still be stock

The car went 9.89 @ 143 with Trent Driving
2 passes at 10.12 @142 with me driving tonight
And I went 10.38 @136 last week on pump gas!

Like I said, I got a good deal because they were slightly used and laying around. I also only got them as I was had to have the car running in 2 days and they had them on hand.

Not needed, but definately nice to have, they arent going anywhere! lol
