The quest for more speed, further improvement of the aero.

Well we just finished something else for the EVO8-9 to help with the aero on the car. The rear view mirrors on the car cause quite a bit of drag. The non power mirrors on the EVO RS's are 2.4#'s a piece, 4.8#'s total. The new carbon fiber block off plates that we just built to fill in the area left when you remove the mirrors weigh "nothing". They won't register on our scale that goes down to .10 pounds The plate looks good and also brings the recessed area left when you remove the mirror up flush with the filler panel in front of the mirror.

Here's is what the filler panel looks like:

9sec9's idea was to use velcro to attach the plates to the car, this way they can be removed and the stock mirrors can be put back on.

The pair of these will be $99.

Thanks for reading.

I dunno, sure are cutting into the 'streetability' of the car with those! They do look cool though!

Looks great my buddy and I were just talking about making a set of those the other day. Hope they help drop part of the .12 seconds you need!

They won't be on the car on the street, just track and they are attached with velcro for easy removal.

We needed something to just cover the painted door area underneath the mirrors. These panels were the perfect idea for the track. Temporarily remove the mirrors with 3 10mm nuts, then put the panels on for lowering the aerodynamic drag. When leaving the track, 5 minutes and your mirrors are back on. The 3m tape would have to be removed each time, with the velcro, the inside piece can stay, even with the mirrors. Indy and I talked at length about how much drag the mirrors create. I think he test an incredible number of mirrors in the wind tunnel, so he definitely knows what works and what doesn't. The panel was the best option for racing. The Carbon Fiber aint to shabby either.
