Little help/Info

Ok I just bought my Evo about 4 months ago now. I truely love the car and I have not thought about another car ever since.

It's a 2003 I believe fully loaded. It came with Buschur turbo back, hbc MBC, Cone filter intake, Grounding kit, And definetly a fuel pump (walboro are pretty loud). With that being said my A/F gauge when idling stays in the lean for a good bit of time then jumps around.

I noticed in my cousins boosted G35 it stays in the orange and never really runs lean at all. Basically does my car need a tune? I took it to the track and ran 12.8 with about a half tank of gas and cam2 race fuel (like 3 gallons of it) shouldn't that be close to what most would run stock? Oh and if i get on the gas I can literally watch the fuel burn by watching my fuel gauge go down.

I have been quoted by a pretty well known shop here in columbus 450 bucks for a reflash and tune. Just wondering if thats what my problem is with running so lean sometimes and the fact that I burn gas pretty damn bad. 220miles to a full tank.

well at idle you should be around 14-16 afr

sounds like your cousins boosted g35 is running pig rich if at idle it's no less than 14

you definitely need a tune if you want to run better and have a more powerful car

220 miles per tank is decent if you are on it, meaning "in boost" frequently. Use EvoScan to check out some data and see whats going on. If all else fails, shoot Chris from Mellon Tuning a pm and describe your situation.

adding race gas will make you very rich and that could be killing the performance. I would get a proper pump gas tune and see how it runs then if you want more do a separate race gas tune for more boost to extract even more ponies.

FQ-300 thanks for the referral

What type of A/F Gauge are you using? Is it a true wideband gauge? or an Autometer Gauge?

If it's one of the $50.00 autometer gauges chances are it's reading closed loop and just doing a nice blinky light dance. The easiest way to get a good a/f reading is using a true wideband. (AEM, Innovate, etc.)

Thanks,

Michael
