Hey John glad to hear from you, I’ll be looking you us soon as I am working on scaling my FIC Blue max 1250 injectors and getting a start up tune for my car to break in it. I plan on taking a knife or chisel to clean away the paint that is on there from the painting. I don't know how clean it is under there but I will polish it with sand paper or what not and then clean it all out again with the pipe cleaners and such. I imagine that it will make a very good seal. Worse to worse I will put a little bit of sealant around it if it looks like it needs it or what not. But I imagine that after the washers and lock tight gets all setup it to the fully smooth surface it will be perfect. Now if I could get all the rest of my parts really fast so I can work on getting the car running and start the really long process of tuning. Most of all I just want to get the car started and running to break it in. Then I need someone to help tune it because I know a bit but really I understand I don’t know everything. i love your posts John thanks for all the great info you post. Glad to see you are now reading my post

Wiring?? ya your guess is as good as mine, remember I already have an Evo 9 so I am using a setup that is already Mivec. I dont think you can turn an Evo 8 head into being Mivec thats what it sounds like you are trying to do. You would need a 9 head, some sort of ECU to control it all, and as you started all the wires and sensors needed. I am only converting the evo 9 block to mate with my evo 9 head.

Thanks much, My head is taking a little while in the machine shop, but I plan by the 27th (my birthday) to take it for a drive. even if it is 11:30pm that night :-), the bottom end is almost all ready to go and everything is here to just go together. Cant wait to be terrorizing the people here :-) I miss driving my car as right now, but its been so much fun to work on. I love it. In all ways.

I thought I would add that on my setup I used the rods, pistons, and crank from my evo ix engine. My block was cracked in an accident, but the internals were fine. So I have ix internals in an viii block.

Very good post as I'm doing something similar. I have an EVO 9. I'm using an EVO 8 block with a 2.3 stroker in it mated to my EVO 9 head. One question I have is about the head gasket. I'm assuming that I should use an EVO 9 headgasket correct? The block is EVO 8, but the head is EVO 9. Any issues in this department?

are there any issues going the other direction??? I sold the 2.3l stroker from my car to greatgonzer, and im taking his 9 block to put in my 8 so i can trade it in.... si what i'm asking is will i have to do anything other than plug the hole on the evo9 block?? and i also noticed some differences in the water pump, and tube that comes off the water pump going to the lower radiator hose.... I'm guessing just swap that tupe, and water pump over to each motor??? thanks for any help you can give..... so on my car its an evo 9 block, and an evo 8 head

Lots of people have gone the other way. No problems as I know and everything I read. Just plug the hole for the Mivec its a 12x1.25. I used my Water pump from my 9 on the 8 block and everything seems to be the same to me. Only difference I saw was that for the turbo line lower water line they are different, Evo 9 setup needs a longer hose, Evo 8 needs a shorter hose,

no problem, you can ask me more if needed, just get it all tight, I think I have a small water leak from my water pump and it does not sound like fun trying to get at it. still looking into it though

I should ad that when drilling out the hole that you will be tapping be real careful to hold the drill straight and not let it move around. My threads were a little more lose than I wanted just like Didysis commented. ....but it does work just fine.

thanks... what i was think of doing, instead of drilling into the block for that oil feed to the head, was running a steel line from the oil filter housing, to the head??? that will save from getting any metal in the block, and screwing up the hole if my hands start shaking!!!! lol..... let me know what you guys think??
