Does anyone else have compressor surge?

I've noticed in the lower RPM ranges only in 1st and 2nd gear under "normal driving" as I shift I will have some compressor surge, so to keep it from surging I just make sure I go a little into boost before I shift. Im just wondering if anyone has had the same problem?

I have an HKS O2 housing and downpipe, Megan tubular manifold, HKS super suction intake and a Forge BOV. That's just in the breathing department. Oh stock intercooler and plumbing.

I threw a Ralli Art ecu in lastweeked and logged a couple of pulls the only thing that we seen is shes leaning out my, IV has 510 cc injectors so were going to swap them out for some stock VIII's and throw it back on the dyno.

How can a tune cause compressor surge?

Has something to do with your BOV.

tune has nothing to do with comp. surge...
its all about the bov

i have compressor surge bad at low rpms in all gears, but thats only cause its gotta be set tight to hold the 32psi up top. i wouldnt worry about it. it wont really affect anything

i would start with the bov set real loose (where it opens quickly with little boost)and drive it .keep tightening it till you get it like you like it.personal preference comes into play here.i have a greddy type rs and it is set hard and works very abruptly but thats where i like it.

^You should have it tightened according to how much PSI you are running. I don't know of any problems with compressor surge though.

Do you mean the DV flutter at low boost when you let off the throttle the right way?

I don't really consider the flutter of the DV to be surge just the result of the right pressure differences behind the butterfly valve in the intake manifold and the distance to the DV.

The only difference is now that I have an intake i can hear it.

No surge kinda makes a loud weird sound like the turbo is trying to spool and blowoff at the same time (if that makes sense), and you feel as if the car is kinda pulling you back/about to start bucking. Happens to me on my stocker, and I'm on the stock IX metal BOV which people praise. I did notice it alot more when I put the intake on. Maybe if I take it off it will help.

No it's not flutter I am familiar with that sound my GTi did it alot, this is definatly compressor surge. I backed off on the adjustment and when releases pressure it sounds like a$$ so, Im just going to set it back to where it was and deal with it. Unless anyone has any other suggestions
