Hmm... on my Nissan cast manifold, no issues after 100k miles. I know of flaking on stainless steel tubular manifolds, but hadn't heard of it on cast.

I think the external porting is that they grind down the bolt holes for the heat sheild. if you look at the pics on the site thats the only thing that looks different

yes i had flaking after about 5k miles on my stainless manifold, but thats good to hear it holds up better on the cast manifolds, i figured it would be more prone to cracking cause cast iron stretches more when it heats up

I had mine ported by Buschur and then sent it to Swain myself.

http://www.sitedocuments.net/SwainTech/contact.htm

As far as the flaking of the Swain coating, it depends on how you use the car. Mine looked great for 2+ years but the first time I took it to the track the coating started to bubble and crack. It didn't all come off, but the top layer did. Now it's a steely grey color. Same thing with the Swain coating on the turbo and O2 housing.

I had my hotside & manifold ceramic coated by Joe @ JNZFinishing back in May of this year.

I've done a total of 4 track days with it so far, along with about 4k miles of daily driving and about half a dozen autox and there is zero chipping or flaking off. they both still look exactly the same as the day I put them on. I even pulled the manifold a couple weeks ago to replace an o2 housing bolt that came loose and with my greasy finger prints all over the place the finish still looks great.

I had PPI do the porting on my stock manifolds and they sent them to swain..both have been on the car for over a year..with a season of AX and a season of T.T.'s and street miles. The only issue I have had is the "White Lightning" exhaust coating is now "Tan Lightning" but is still works ! Pete

Yes, I can take care of all your porting needs! I need to change that on the site to say "External Machining". That would be more appropriate. This is a process that we machine off the anti-lag ports and the heat shield bosses. I also remove the casting numbers and grind down the outside of the manifold smooth. This is done for cosmetics as it truly gives the manifold a custom look and looks great without the heatshield. It also saves about 1.5 lbs. if your looking to shave weight in the last few places.

Let me know if you have any questions
Thank You,
Wayne
