Cam install Part 2...new problems!!!

OK...the good news is that you guys came through and the advice that it got really helped! Now, before putting it all back together we cranked it over with the starter, no problems. SOOO, we said what the hell lets see if it runs. We put the valve cover on with 4 bolts, put the ignition back on and went to fire it up. GOOD NEWS!!! IT RUNS!

Now my question is, When it starts it revs up to 3k then wants to stall. Not lumpy cam kind of stall, just shut off, if you hit the gas it will rev back up to 3k and do the same thing again. the CEL came on, and i read the codes and its the crank position sensor. That's where im stumped. we never unplugged it, and its still in time.

The other thing is that the after it ran the timing belt was tight, after it sat for 1/2 hr the belt between the cam gears was loose again. could this be because it didnt run long enough to pump the MIVEC gear back up?

Thanks again!!

How did you replace the cams without unpluging the CPS?

I had to undo the sensor connection to get the valve cover off when i did my cams.

crank angle sensor is not a easy replace. Requires removal of the timing belt...i've had it done twice. Sounds like your sensor is dead. First time my car wouldn't start...second time i was running it on the hwy went over a hill, rpms died ...sensor again.

Did you unbolt the sensor at all?

If it is, could it because the MIVEC gear isnt pumped up with oil completely. and it saying its out of time because that gear can move?

After it ran, we turned the crank back to TDC and everything was dead on. But like i said, after it sits for like 15 min the belt between the gears gets loose. Which is because the MIVEC gear dosent have enough oil pressure to hold it in that spot.....I think.

It is the wire just goes up though and out the front near the cam timing tool hole up over the valve cover and back down a bit plugging into a socket.
