best way to clean lifters..??
like topic says....one of my lifters seem to be dirty cause im getting a slight ticking coming from the vavle cover....and ive been told, and with my deductive resoning tells me that i have a dirty lifter. what the best way to clean them , that is easy...like a fluid i can flush though my oil system or somthing? i dont see it as a problem its just the noise that is driving me crazy a low rpm driving....

I've seen a lot of threads about lifter tick over the years. Never heard of any type of additive to resolve it. Some people find differeint types of engine oil or regular oil changes help.
I've seen many people pull them all out and clean them one by one and re-install just to solve the problem.

mobil 1 10w-30....what it came with. i heard the Seafoam is kind a bad cause it breaks up tooo much stuff. and i change it every 3500miles(unless i goto the track)
anyone have anything else to say on SeaFoam??

ok, so it sounds like no easy way to clean them.
will this cause any more problems? or will it just sound bad?
cause i kinda plan on doing valve springs etc. in a little bit....and i clean it all then.

sea foam uses to manny harmfull additive like Chlorinate solvents, breaks down seals and oil, they are good for engines that get build every week, but not for daili drivers.
we offer what we call tune-up we have customers that say they been using it since the 70's and they sware by it,

Add to engine oil after a tune-up or between oil changes.
Cleans valves and rings to improve engine performance.
Quiets noisy hydraulic lifters.
Removes sludge and varnish deposits between oil changes.

Well you could just buy some 3g lifters and not worry about it, especially if you are going to do springs and retainers.

also what we do for our customers is we drain the oil, we add 20W oil, we add a bottle of the stuff above in the picture, we iddle the engine for 10 minutes we drain and refill with you regular 10-30W.
FYI you never drive the car with 20W only iddle it is so the thin oil can get into the galleys and clean together with the Tune-UP cleaner.
results are amazing,,,, you can aslo just add the Tune-UP to your current oil, i run it on my evo

If you feel that there is just a piece of crud in the lifter, you can soak it in some diesel fuel or parts washer solvent then bleed it down several times which will flush any contaminants out of the lifter. Using something like SeaFoam to dislodge the sludge has the ability to make the problem worse. Once the particles are loosened from the oil galleys, they have to pass through the rest of the engine (and the lifters ) before they get to the oil filter.
To properly bleed lifters, place them in a vise one at a time and slowly compress them. When you begin to feel resistance, STOP! Be careful not to over-compress the lifter or you will damage it and it will be useless.
If they need to be replaced we sell the 3rd gen lifters. They offer better internal oiling and more travel to work with higher revs and aftermarket cams.
