Check the intercooler hoses and vacuum lines. One of the clamps may be loose and only be noticeable under boost.

I drove a car that did this after the clutch line switch. Turns out, the airbox wasn't put back in correctly. We pulled the box, tightened everything back down, made sure the pegs were back in the tunnel that goes to the airbox, and the problem went away immediately. The car I'm talking about had it happen at about 6000rpm, you'd get an audible hiss, and a MAJOR drop in acceleration. Has your airbox ever been out? 10:1 that is the problem if it has.

Actually had the same experience as Noize in a 3G eclipse. Hiss and power loss around 5500-6000 RPM. The dealership actually diagnosed it as a bad transmission before before tightening the airbox. After fixing the airbox, everything was back to normal.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Guaran-FREAKING-tee that's it, bro! EXACTLY what happened to this car. If you want a quick 10 second fix just to test it out, put a couple of replacement pieces in the holes for the tunnel to anchor it, and go drive the car around the block...

That'll be 25 cents, please. :-)

I see it now. I'm glad your car is fixed. I used some plastic anchor snaps from a hardware store. Car runs perfectly.

Hmmmm,

Are you guys talking about the duct that is held in with those awful plastic screws?

I broke mine and never fixed them, also, my Hallman MBC is mounted under there and kind of in the way so the duct is pushed up a little but.

Just yesterday, car didn't feel like it was pulling as hard as right after I put in the MBC. I'll try to secure the duct better and see if that helps.

Thanks,
