I dont recommend running without the screen the purpose for it being there is to somewhat stabilize the air in order to get a more accurate reading.. just reinforce it with some epoxy

I wouldn't "recommend it" but it can be done. the air filter is enough to straighten the air out pre-maf. I drove without it for almost 2 years. did everything from road racing to AX to drag racing and never had a problem.
