Mitch, I'm definitely not afraid of the AEM, as I had one on my VIII. I would get one immediately; however, they cost $$.

Haha, yes I'm sure I have. It's a rough economy though and I have to be smart about the money I spend.

 

If anybody has a MAF sensor, please pm a price shipped. I have gone through 2 of these now.

 

I've got two, both missing the honeycombs.

We ran it fine without the honeycomb on a 1G DSM.

 

LOL What turbo do you have again.

I put a protective mesh after the Maf to prevent it from getting sucked in.

 

I've got two too, both missing honeycombs, haha. I'm sure I could tune without it, I just don't plan on doing that until I build the motor.

I'm running a twin scroll "35R" turbo. I'm pretty sure I've was boosting upwards of 30psi in the cold winter weather. This turbo flows alot of air so, I'm sure the honeycombs are like "f u." Haha, thanks for all the quick responses guys.

"Always": Is it very difficult to remove the screen? On the older GM cars they were held in by snaprings(If my memory serves me well.). But, I looked at the Evo's MAF screen and I couldn't figure out how to remove it cleanly.

 

Happened to me the first time I had the 3065 on the track.

 

The screen itself is extremely brittle and can be removed quite easily, but you are going to have to destroy it. I see no possible way of removing it without ruining it.

 

Anything bigger than a 3 inch inlet will suck the screen in.

 

Or in my case, a 3" intake pipe caused the screen to be sucked in 2x now.

 

there's a writeup on how to remove the screen somewhere--without destroying it. i did this to mine.

basically, you take off the plastic keeper/cover (glued on) and slide the screen out . re-glue and you're good to go.
