Tcase problem, no whine, grainy on decel

I have owned my evo for almost 6 months now, and have always had an issue with my tcase. I have driven and ridden in many other evo's, and my tcase whine isn't any louder than the other five I have been in. My problem is if I let off the throttle at high rpm (example: 4k in third), my tcase has a grainy sound to it. Is this normal for an 03?

What else could it be? I know its not engine decel noise, because its not as loud as what I thought was the tcase noise. Changed the tcase oil out with shockproof heavy when the clutch went in, and there wasn't really any metal in the oil.

Did it make the sound before you put the aftermarket clutch in?

Mine (as well as countless others on this board) makes the same exact sound you are referring to. It never made it until I had a clutch/flywheel put in. If it's a lightweight flywheel that you have as well, you will hear more of the drivetrain noises; that's a given! I'm 99% sure that's what you are hearing, and it's 100% normal!

All evos make that loose marble in a closed tin can noise upon deceleration. At least every evo I've heard.

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I already have to buy a new turbo before I thought I would have to, so thats one less thing I have to worry about.

I have had the sound since I replaced my clutch. The t-case has poor shimming, but seems to be holding out so far as some seriously long beatings. I wouldn't consider the noise normal. Any sort of chunky sound coming from drivetrain parts is never good. Jon at TRE has some good pics of what the ring gear looks like after awhile.
