lost motor

hey,

i was on my way to the track at about 430ish today for on last run of the season and all kinds ot bad luck happened. I heard a ping followed by alot of smoke. towed the car back home and found all the coolant was in the oil and their was alot of knocking in the motor. im sure i lost the headgaskit and almost def a rod or piston is damaged in some way. just sucks the way it happened, y couldnt it last one more day so i can have some fun while im on vac. from work. o well. if anyone has some good advive as to where to get parts let me know. i might go with a ams adv. rebuild kit.

thanks everyone

Sorry to hear of the trouble.. We keep Evo VIII long and shortblocks in stock if you need.. Also we usually have a Built Buschur Block in stock for the VIII's as well if you decide.. pm with any questions..

Sorry for your lose man. Can it have something to do with your headstuds? I'm waiting on my FP Red to come in and then I'm having Ivey tune mine with meth. I've been concerned about headstuds so I think I'll be putting them in. By the way are those #'s from Ivey's Dynojet? I thought you would have eclipse the 400whp mark easily with a green and meth?

the car does have headstuds in it. those numbers are on iveys dyno. i have small cams (only hks 268) and it was very hot in the shop on that day. if the temp was good than i wouldve seen much higher numbers as i did on the stock turbo. i think it was something like 90deg that day vs. it was like 65 the day i got tuned on my stock turbo

Are you doing a full build or a Drop-in set? Kind of a stupid question I guess.....you haven't really seen the damage yet.

ill know as soon as i get it all apart. its already in my lift at work. depending on the damage if i have a good block and good crank i hope to uce them again and replace everything else. im sure a machine shop can repair any damage to the block so im iffy about the crank knowing its been overheated and i already had to replace a bearing that did something weird. it didnt spin but started comming apart. the crank and rod hadnt been damaged at that time. but i will hopefully know tomarrow nite after the head ant oil pan is off

I feel your pain. I had detonation in cylinder #2 and I had to rebuild my motor. Good luck with your venture.

ok, so i pulled the engine apart today a good amout. i found the headgasket had no damage at all. the cylinder #1 wall had cracked and the rod broke due to pulling the coolant in and hydrolocking that cylinder. this is also the cylinder that i had to replace the rod bearing due to the overheating by the owner befor me. i guess itll be short block time for me.

well considering the amount of boost i run with the fpgreen and all the track time i use, ill prolly want something stronger than stock. i know im def doing some head work while the head is off. i was actually surprised that the head wasnt damaged cause the piston was all knocked up and cracked and i just pulled it out through the top.
