Unhappy Shifter prbblems...help!

Hey all, just thought I'd post up here and see what some of you think.

I had a clutch/flywheel installed about 1 month ago, they also used redline fluid in the tranny (I've never used it before).

Anyways, I get the car, everything feel great, but what I didn't notice right away, is that the shifter wasn't returning to the middle/neutral position. It'd kind of stick to the left or right when leaving it in neutral.

I'm basically wondering why? Yesterday I took the center console out just to see if "scissor type spring" is worn, it seemed fine, but I'm not 100% sure.
Is it something with the shifter cables? I also have brass underhood bushings installed. Could they be seized? How do you know if they are seized?

ALSO:

When my car is fully warmed up (after driving about 10-15 minutes, if I shift in the 4th, I would say I get a grind now about 70% of the time, no matter what RPM I'm shifting at. I've NEVER had this before the clutch install. I adjusted my clutch here recently as well, and that didn't seem to help 4th gear, so it's not that.

I'm wondering if this has something to do with the redline fluids, or if it's just because my shifter issue. Being the shifter isn't returning to the middle, I'm thinking when I shift into 4th, I may not be going "straight" into 4th because of the now sloppy shifter?

Any ideas/comments/suggestions on these 2 issues would be great!!!

i have the same problem with my shifter, it feels as the shift pattern all moved over a bit. i have a feeling it has to do with the cables. they couldve possible been pulled and one got streached causing it to move.

Yeah that's what I was wondering. The only thread that related to my situation stated the same thing. I wonder how much of a job it is to replace the shifter cables?

its no hard. u unhook them from the trans and shifter and they are bolted on the inside of the car where they go to the engine bay. they only come as sets and will come out together

Sounds good. I'm going to try that route then. I wonder if that's contributing to my 4th gear grinds as well?

Thanks man. I appreciate your help. I just bet the installer stretched them or something, because the symptoms were right after the install.

Thanks again and I'll let you guys know how it goes when I get the parts.
