Same here but in DSM's (same exact unit though). I'll be putting one in my evo when the time comes. Its a well engineered well thought out unit. It shifts fantastic.

You can definitely hear the noises when i try to slip it!
Yeah, perfect video of what it sounds like while "slipping" it.

That video makes me nervous as hell to launch the car. I tired half launching it once, basically to see if I could half way slip it on a launch. I got a bunch of drive train banging and decided to let out and clutch in right away. Didn't sound good at all.

For the power my car makes, it's the wrong clutch. But I wanted something very light that shifted well and I got exactly that.

Maybe with some slicks on the track it will be alright? But it seems like it really wants to cause wheel hop as mentioned and wheel hop is a sure fire way to break drivetrain.

You need bushings, moustache bar, front engine support and probably a good suspension setup to reduce/eliminate wheel hop...

2 years ago on the everything stock from the above except lowering springs, i tried to launch the car on racegas on the stock turbo and i cut an axle in half!

Since then i got the AMS front support bar, BR moustache bar, Ingalls stiffy engine damper and never had a problem again. Next season i am upgrading to Apexi coilovers and probably change some of the bushings to be even safer...

The last 4-5 passes i managed to control the QM during launch, allowing some slippage... Hopefully next season with the suspension mods and 16" tires the car will launch even better...

Kouzman,
when you say bushings do you mean Engine mounts? I have a Front engine mount only... I'm kind of leary of putting the moustache bar/or mustache bar eliminator on my car due to vibrations.

Which one of those drivetrain stiffening products helped the most without killing the NVH

Thank you for the video! Just what I was looking for. Funny thing is that my Exedy Twin makes literally the same noise. :P

Yeah, I plan on getting a full set of engine mounts made up. Just driving around I get the exhaust smacking the underbody when the clutch chatters. Pretty damn annoying and I never had the issue until using this clutch.

I don't know if it's the clutch, the moustache eliminator, or the combination, but decel noise is incredibly bad on my car.

I only get the occasional knock couns from noise. I have my knock tables set fairly high at low loads though.

Honestly, I thought I heard some mild detonation the other day so my values may be high enough that I'm actually missing detonation events. Based on boost level, it was probably in the 120 load range and 3500 RPM. I couldn't duplicate it though and I wasn't logging so it's just something I'm keeping an ear out for.

Most detonation isn't audible. You will get spool up knock... it does exist. I leave my knock tables alone. I haven't messed with them at all. My knock light I've moved to around 160load.

Yeah, it was very faint. Not sure exactly what I heard.

I need to just pull the plugs and see how things have been going. I've been doing a ton of things on the tune, many of which weren't too good for the motor. Mostly just soaking it in fuel while trying to tune the SD patch in various ways.

Is the howling noise part of the QM too?

How many miles do you have now in your QM? Do you DD it a lot?

By howling you mean the high pitch noise during staging?
If yes, then yes thats the QM...

I dont really daily drive my car... There is no reason to do it in New York traffic every morning... It mostly a weekend/fun car but i do drive it to work sometimes...

I have almost 2000 miles on the clutch... Now i am much better driving it... In the beginning it was a real PITA to even pull the car from my driveway! LOL

Good lord, at that rate I don't feel so bad for the $1100 rebuild cost on my triple exedy, considering they go 35-40k. It seems the rebuild costs would equal out, except you have to pull the driveline more often with the quartermaster.

As far as noise goes, they vastly improved the exedys with the new solid center hub design.
