cam seals leaking
cam seals leaking
hey guys today i was cleaning my engine bay and noticed that both of my cam seals are leaking and i was wondering how this will effect my motor and head. second who makes a good cam seal, note that i have a fully built cosworth head. should i call cosworth and ask them if they can send me some? how much should i look on spending for install? thanks
How much is it leaking? Or is it just seaping a little? If it's just seaping a little, it's not the biggest deal. Check your oil level to make sure that it's not being affected by it. For the Cam seals I would just purchase some OEM ones an put them on. As for labor, I couldn't see you being charged more than 1 labor hour. It is a very easy job....like a 2 out of a 10 difficulty/time rating.
Mine are slightly leaking too. It's just a little residue leaking down the head and block, a very little amount. It's just enough to wipe and see on your finger. It hasnt been a problem for me, but I've only noticed it the last month after I did my cams. I suspected that I didnt use enough RTV sealant, or my seals were leaking.
okay thanks for the advice, its not leaking alot at all but i can tell if i dont fix it it will eventually cause a problem, the people i take my car to wanted to charge me like 500 dollars, they were like we have to take off the spark cover, the cam cover, the timing belt, and cam gears to do it and a simple job and they want to charge me 500 ... but i will order the OEM seals today.thanks
