Quick Q on mechanical O2 fix

Is it a good idea to clean the O2 sensor prior to installing it in the mechanical O2 fix found on this site? Has anyone done this and what is the best thing (spray or chemical) to clean it with if so?

do not spray the o2 with anything.

if anything use a clean paper towel and just clean it off. then use LIGHT pressure air to lightly blow it off. your mouth will do just fine as well. do not touch the o2 with your fingers.

spray some brake clean on a rag and clean the tip. If there were no issues or codes thrown you should be ok. I wouldnt spray any chemicals on the sensor.

hum. brake clean is a chemical.

do not spray nothing on the o2. not even spit. just use a rag or paper towel and wipe it off. then blow some air on it but not high pressure.

I dont think brake clean on a rag will harm the electrodes inside the o2. A small dose of brake clean will break up carbon that may be covering the holes on the tip. If there are no issues with the sensor before, just put it back in.

i mainly agree but at the same time a good sensor is a good sensor. a new one can run up a nice bill so why risk it.

the holes sometimes get clogged but i never had a issue when just wiping it off and blowing the rest when done.

ok. No chem will be used. I'll just wipe it and blow it off with a little air. Thanks for the info!
