Just drilled and installed o2 foolers!

And I hope this finally eliminates the service engine light! I've got a 3" TBE with a high-flow cat and I suspect that's the problem. I've replaced the o2 sensor once before thinking that was the problem, but 25 miles later, the light came back on again!

I've got 3 miles on it since the foolers... here's to another 3,000 miles without the light coming back on!

Or you can simply patch the ECU.

Doesn't that cause it to have a "not ready" code though?

Really? Tell me more about this patch... I can't afford to have another "not ready code" as we all get plugged in for inspections here. The car is a hair lower now, and I'd like to have more clearance by removing the anti foulers.

I've been running the Spark Plug Anti Fouler fix for over 50k now without a hiccup.

Well, first there were dinosaurs...then they all died and turned to oil.... My reference to a movie.

As far as the patch, all of tephra v5 roms (maybe v5.1...I forgot) already have the patch included. As far as the patch itself, search the ECUFlash forums. mrfred was the creator of the patch for his ROM 88590015 (Evo IX) and I ported it to my ROM, 96940011 (all 05 Evo VIII). I have a separate thread for that ROM. Just search that subforum and you will find it.

I have an older version of the patch that does throw the "not ready" code. I've been told the newer patch (Tephra/Mr. Fred) will not throw the "not ready" code, but the resistors are needed for this to work.

Ok, we are going way off topic here (or maybe not), but I want to keep the sensor in place, but without the anti foulers, and of course without a code

Yes, that's exactly what the patch will let you do. The linked post above is not the post(s) that I am referring to. Search for rear 02 sim patch. MrFred made the original post. I then ported it to the 96940011 ROM (I started a separate thread for that) and then tephra later included it in his Tephramod roms.

What the patch does is it simulates the rear O2 signal so that the ODB readiness tests for cat efficiency will pass and that no CEL for rear O2/cat efficiency will light up. You keep your O2 sensor in place.
