tranny fluid change
im going to change my tranny fluid this weekend after i paint my calipers, and i went to my local autozone and kragens and found they only valvoline and mobil 1, i was going to get mobil 1, but i saw on another thread people suggest i use diaqueen or MT90 redline. Now im super newb and i dont know what exactly these are so i asked the kragens rep. and he said he has never heard of them either. Im lost...
The Valvoline and Mobil 1 fluids are GL-5 and are not compatible with the Evo transmission. Assuming you have a 5-speed, you should either run the Mitsubishi DiaQueen (available from your dealer) or Redline MT-90/MTL mix. With the Redline, you'll want to mix 2 quarts of MT-90 with 1 quart of MTL. Redline is my preferred tranny fluid and is available from some performance shops or online at:

If you want to do your entire drivetrain which is never a bad idea:

People have had **** loads of problems with trannys, xfer cases, and rear diffs after changing to something other than the recommended fluids.
I've tried four of the most member recommended oils and gone back to the stock Mitsu Diaqueen. Its expensive but it honestly feels better when cold and when hot than anything else I've put in there.
I track my car and therefore change all driveline fluids every 10k miles. The price difference from aftermarket to Mitsu recommended is about $100. I think is pretty much a no brainer to spend the extra $100 and stick with the recommended and best feeling fluids.
I'm not saying AMSOil, Royal Purple, Redline, and Penzoil Sychromesh are crap I'm simply staying we know the stock stuff is excellent and designed for our specific platform. Don't even bother taking chances over $100.
