Unhappy Lean Idle 18.4!!!!!

Hey guys
I just installed my HTA35R kit, and everything went smoothly, so I started to tune it with 4WS tuning, by logging through mitsulogger.

we started by scaling the injectors, anyway everything went normal until we reached the 3 map that 4WS sent me, the car start to idle really wired.

First it idle normal then after the car warms up the a/r gose to 18.4 and the car start to loup like crazy, and stays there.

4WS tried to fix it by sending another map, but it didn't work so he though it might be the tune, so he told me to switch to the old map I have and see if it's the tune or the car.
Switch back and again the same, once the car warms up it start to loup and the a/r gose to 18.4.

So my question is what could have cuz this issue??

could it be a boost/vacum leak or exhaust leak??

Here's my mod list:-
HTA35R cast kit
1000cc injectors
cosworth mivec cams 272/272
BR twin pump
BR TBE
BR intake
supertech duel valve spring and retiners
BR FMIC
Halman MBC
APR head studs
Exedy twin HD

Please guys I really need your help, am gonna check for leaks tomorrow anything eles should I check for

Thanks

Definitely check for a vacuum/boost leak.

If its an exhaust leak you can test it easy by just revving it up a little at a stand still the extra exhaust pressure will dissipate thought the leak instead of sucking in fresh air.

If it's fine cold then starts doing it once warmed up it sounds like the injector scaling and latencies are off.

What are your fuel trims saying when this happens?

I don't think it's the injector scaling, cuz as I mentioned above, the first 2 maps the car was idleing fine but when I uploaded the 3rd map the car started to do that wired idle.

4WS told me to switch to the old 2 maps he gave me before when the car idle fine, and once I did it idle the same fell to 18.4.

Am gonna check for exhaust leak and the injector seals today, and I'll let you guys know what happen

This happens frequently with large turbos.

okay I found 2 small exhaust leaks, and fixed them, but still the car a/r falls to 18.4, after a while I decided to uplaod the bas map that my tuner sent me, and when I did the car start to idle fine and the a/r reads 14.7-15.3.

So if am not wrong I think it's the tune, am gonna check it with my tuner and see if there's something he forgot.

If you guys got any suggestion please let me know thanks

Okay, I forgot to mention that when am crusing the air fuel ration read 14.7-15.1 which is normal.

So my question is well the lean idle do any damage to the engine??

If it won't why not just keep it that way???

Please help me out guys

My idle has been lean ever since the PT61mm (35r). My injectors are scaled just fine. My only guess is it has something to do with the winding down. My car wouldnt even idle untill the map to maf patch now it idles fine just swings lean sometimes.

Lean idle wont hurt the car. I change my plugs every 3k so no worries

how lean was it?? what was the A/r gauge reading?? and who tuned it???

Mine reads 18.4 idle, and while crusing it reads perfectly 14.7-15.1

do you think I should change the plugs??

No I dont think your plugs are the culprit I just say change the periodically as cheap maintenence for a high HP car.

My wide band only reads to 16.00 but it def goes leaner than that. It's not the tune. 4WS is the only cat that will ever tune my car until I go stand alone then its going to Ivey or Buschur.

so you think it's okay to keep the lean idle like that and start doing some pulls???

Am also tuning with 4WS and he is awesome but this lean idle made him worried, and am also worried

so I don't know what to do here

Mine does the same thing since the cold weather is on us here...it falls to 17.0-18.0, Stumbles a bit the jumps back up, while its warming up. Once the oil and water temp get to normal operating range my idle is like great.

Im thinking it has something to do with the enrichment table while the car is warming up. Funny thing is my car didnt do it that last year...it was only after i installed cams.

When it's warming up and is in open loop its a problem of aftermarket intakes and vacuum leaks. Former can be fixed with MAF tuning (best solution) or eriching open loop fuel tables in the idle portion (band aid).
When it keeps doing it in closed loop, fully warmed up, most likely it's your injectors that aren't tuned properly.
