well I don't think someone would intentionally do something like this and fix it for free. I dunno about you but that would be retarded on the body shops part.

maybe alot of shop dust got into the engine bay thru the hood and got on fire after the engine got hot...ive seen bodyshop dust light **** up before

Do you have a IX turbo or FP Green? Only reason im asking is because they use a different outlet or "J" pipe.

If you use the evo 8 outlet pipe instead of the proper one there has been stories of it coming in contact with the starter and causing a fire.

Not sure if I missed it...But were there any chemical residues left from the body shop when it was idling?

I've seen engine compartments catch on fire on a few occasions, and most often it was chemical related such as a technician spraying brake cleaner onto a hot exhaust manifold. Even seen a car that nearly burned down from a leftover greasy rag near a manifold. -Gabe
