Very Confused Evo Caught On Fire!
Very Confused Evo Caught On Fire!
So I left my car a my buddies body shop to get my roof painted black with some pearl. Looks awesome! But anyways he pulled my car outside to wash it since it was dirty cuz the shop dust. He said about 3 minutes later, only idling. The car caught on fire. I don't know how long it was on fire for, since I wasn't there, but it was not for long...Thank GOD!

I am not sure what may have caused this but I think it has to due with something electrical. My car had grounding issues before which made my engine temp gauge overheat, when I turn on the rear defroster LOL. I had an A'pexi grounding kit installed and that fixed the problem, maybe this info may help.
All that got damaged from what I saw today was the hood, front bumper, radiator core support, some wires got melted, upper radiator hose is alittle melted and radiator cap got f'ed up. Luckly for me the body shop is gonna fix all body and paint work for free, since I have a partial sponsorship through him.
I will get some more close up pics tomorrow and post them up. Just want to ask you guys what you think may have caused this?!?! I wish I knew what exactly it was so that I can prevent it from happening again.

A local shop just had a car in for some work, after it left the customer started having problems melting the harness and dying while driving. He had it checked somewhere else, thought they fixed it, started happening again shortly after. Now it's back at the local shop and they come to find out he had installed a small battery kit after he had them do the original work. Turns out the ground was never re-connected from the battery to the chassis so the car was burning up wires trying to pull ground from other sources. I'd start by double checking your ground wire kit, make sure everything's tight and has a clean surface under it, and make sure the battery, chassis, and engine are all grounded properly to each other.
Can you post some pictures of the engine bay?
You engine bay looks oddly smoke free for something that should be an oil or gas fire. Also the hood under and top side really looking for clues to where it started like burned residue on the exhaust manifold
