HKS 272 are pretty mild cams but much better than stock, the HKS 280 served me well and didn't require upgraded springs/retainers. Now that I've gone to a Buschur head I'm running their BF272 cams...they didn't like the typical "big cam" stock ecu settings but I was able to get them to idle great and not stall even with the ultra light weight tilton clutch.

I haven't done the testing myself but I've heard that the best cams like Tomei 280, Jun272, BF272 etc...are a bit overkill for a stock unported head. Most of my stock head customers that want an aggressive cam do the GSC S2 for the EVO 8 and the Evo 9 guys are liking the GSC S2 or Cosworth M2. I have a few customers trying the Kelfords but are slow to get log files back to me so the jury is still out on those for me.

This decision is driving me nuts. David Buschur is recommending HKS 272

You'll start getting mine as soon as I get them in (especially now since my Red will be here tomorrow).

OP, it really depends on what you want to get out of your setup. Are you looking for more top-end or more mid-range?

I would say midrange. Just looking for a good setup that really wouldn't require springs at this time and net me good power for the time being.

I would look into the GSC S2's since your only planning on running a 30R

Plan on getting turbo other than 3076r, now the FP RED is out, BBK turbo is out, do more research on those 2 turbo.

Just like all the other cams thread you read, everyone is going to give you different opinion.
You should ask your self, how much is your budget, do you want to rev high like 8k rpm? do you want to have quick spool or just topend power? do you want to have smooth idle or doesn't matter?

Once you answer all those questions then based on people's review to help you decide which cams.

Before I bought my cams, I did at least 2 years searching on the forum. I don't want to spend the money upgrade my valve componets, and I don't want to loose spool. I just wanted all around improvement over stock, that's why I choose HKS 272.
