Jesus, reading owns you more then I thought.

P.S. We should get Robert in here to see what his opinion is on these 3 inch inlets, and how they would affect performance/reliability etc.

just to let everyone know this turbo is not 400$ its actually 1049.50$ and when u send the core factory turbo back you get the 400$ discount wivh brings it to 649.50 and again thats for the stock inlet for the 3'' inlet add another 225$ bringing it to a total of 874.5$ not bad but id go the other route

good price!

would love to see some independent results on this, and maybe a bigger turbine upgrade available.

I PM'ed Rob to see what he thinks of the 3" inlet conversion with no response. I also gave him the link to this thread to see what his opinion is.

Don't all the turbos pictured look like 8 turbos? Or am I going blind in my old age? Also the pictures don't show a hot side or discuss it in any of the text. Extra? Re-use your old one? Just food for thought maybe the vendor can get on here and answer some of these questions? Would like more info.

Josh

Josh you are right...these are all 8 turbos. Not worth it imo. I would rather spend money on something more proven in terms of stock appearing turbos. (forced performance or even the BBK)

You win, here is your cigar

This is the same prodcut Buschur brought to the market in 2005, put in the cast wheel copy of *something* nobody was exactly sure, but it was almost like a 20g wheel, clip the turbine and declare victory. Knowing the past can help accidents from reocurring.

As far as large inlets are concerned, larger inlets are never a poor idea. With this in mind I set out to measure how much vacuum developed inside a stock air intake pipe at FP Green and FP Red flow levels and was surprised to see that the facotry air pipe was not resulting in greater levels of vacuum in the intake pipe, but rather it was the stock air box. The gentle taper of the stock air intake pipe results in very little restriction.

We fitted 3 pressure taps around turbo end of the stock air pipe and monitored this with our M800 Motec during months of testing of turbochargers. The vacuum at the inlet never exceeded approx 1 psi as long as there was a open element filter attached to the end of the maf instead of the factory airbox.

Could you pick up power by taking off your stock airbox and intake pipe and replacing it with a open filter and 3" intake pipe? Sure, but that is all coming from ditching the stock box, not the intake pipe.
