Thumbs up Who says u have to pay $600-1200 for a good exhaust

Well after the SOCAL EVO canyon run yesterday I was happy with the car's performance but its 2 damn quiet for me needed a little rumble to here my RPMS better so I can guage when to shift witho out taking my eyes off the twistys. SInce I sell apexi and HKS parts and knowing a good hot rod muffler shop I decided on a APEXI 3' turbo universal muffler and had my buddy pick one up for me. Took the car in to CHINO VALLEY muffler to get a 3' stailes mandrel bent piping made and matted up to my muffler.

Well the guys at Chino valley muffler never seace to amaze me with there craftsman ship. They buy mandrel bent sections of piping form a local Exhasut comapany and they also buy ther mess ups so they always have lots of piping ready to go. Althow they did not have complete long piece of SS piping they had to weld a few up together but no big. Took them 2.5 hours and it was done.

I decided to have a 2.5 flange put on to start the cat back to get a better seal to the cat since its 2.5 they then flared the piece to 3 inch so my system is 2.5 for only 1 inch then its full 3 inch. Well the exhasut came out real good and they put some extral long wleds on the hangers to keep the exhaust from moving since the stolk one has two hangers and a bolt in hanger.

As for sound I was expecting something loud but its freaking quiet as hell it has a rumble but nothing a cop will pull u over for thats for sure I would say its quieter thatn the RMR not deep and burbley but nice rumble with a higher tone but no where near how my honda was back in the day. on the freeway cruising at 70mph its barely noticable at idle sounds mean and shifting in the city at 3250 its mild and nice and wonderful to hear.

Total Cost was $476.24 for the whole set up piping muffler and labor IF I wanted to make a UR or Vishnu copy it might have been cheaper since they distribute for MAgnaflow but I like my JDM canalope shooter LOL. In the pics there is coating sprayed on the welds to prevent any rust etc thats why it looks different color etc.

CHRIS

Very nice.

I'd definitely consider that route if I knew of a reputable local exhaust shop in the Mid-Atlantic region...

Nice. I've thought of doing the same. How much does the length of 3" SS piping cost? There is a shop near me that does mandrel bending but I called and they said they don't have 3" piping.

Nice!! Looks like my carbon Ti setup without the carbon.

I'd love to hear what it sounds like. Did you end up going with the N1 muffler?

Nice custom catback. I wished to find a good mandrel bent shop in my area. So far, I have no luck finding one.

Funny, I thought it looked to ride closer to the car and have more clearance than the majority of popular offerings posted here...

Looks damn nice man

the cat back has no bends at all realy mabe two 10 degree bends and the clearance is as good as stolk the pic is miss leading. Went for a 30 min drive the exhaust does get a little bit louder when all warmed up and hot but still nice and u can hear the radio on clik 10 easy and no headaques on this exhaust. Im realy suprised since there are no resonators at all. GOD I LOVE TURBO Cars.

Power is better in the way that band feels more alive on the bottom end before boost city drivin shifint at 3200 rpm's before boost feel more pepy and boost seams to come on easier and smoother not as big of a change witch I like top end is improved a bit but a reflash and DP will take care of all my needs

$476 is a good price considering the amount of labor that had to be involved in doing it. It is a catback though and you mentioned $600-$1200 for a system in your subject line.

We offer a COMPLETE 3" mandrel bent stainless steel system with no more bends in it than the system you had built and I gaurantee it is lighter for only $750. This is the COMPLETE system from the turbo to the tip. The cat back by itself is only $450, that is less than the custom system you had built costs.

I just wanted to point this out for anyone interested in having one that bolts up and saving you the run around having someone MIG weld something together for you.

Thanks,
