Burning smell Help.

I noticed a faint burning smell in the engine compartment behind the drivers side headlight. I'm sure it's not the headlight but around that general area. I've noticed it twice so far and also sometimes it doesn't smell. Any ideas what it could be. I'm gonna check it out in more detail this weekend but just wanted to get some ideas.

Ok so I was driving around last night and the clutch doesn't slip at all and the smell goes on and off. If the clutch were completely fried it would be slipping right? Oh i forgot to mentioned that it's an ACT clutch installed less then 10k miles ago.
