Both of them sugested that with a good intake and a Boost controller (most likely I'm going with AEM TruBoost) I can make around 330 easily. So I think that's what I'll do. I originally just wanted 325 so I don't have to mod my internals
Wow i am doing all the mods you are with cams and my hp was estimated not even 350 on the AMS dyno..

Chris from AMS who is also a god pretty much lol. But he told me like 320-335 on their dyno with all bolt ons and cams. And your going to be making that without cams...

Alvin, you can put WAY more power down than what you're shooting for on stock internals. Have I showed you my mods list as of now?

Your initial spike with the MBC isnt high enough so it tapers more by 6200-6400 where most Evos tend to make peak power as the boost begins to drop. The other reason could be the specific cams in the car.

I have seen 3 IXs make 350+whp on stock cams, though this is far from average. Usually S1, HKS272, Kelford B cams will do this on a stock turbo on pump gas. The general average for the stock cam IXs we do is 325-335...with an occasional 340 for good measure.

Cat: Perrin 3" HFC
Exhaust: Greddy Ti-C Catback
Intake: BMC Drop in Filter

My question for all the experts is: If I want to reach around 330 awhp, what can I add to help get me there without touching the internals (no cams, etc)

I'm thinking:
Boost Controller: Apexi AVC-R or AEM TruBoost
UICP: Not sure which one yet
Intake: I might have an ARC on the way, any other suggestions would be helpful

Thanks guys!

you need to find another tuner or something. i have a cobb intake, custom exhaust and a hallman MBC and i'm running 350hp and 353lbs.

I'd go with ECU boost, an ARC intake, and a resonated testpipe. I have the same exact mods as you (plus the ones I listed) but stock FMIC and make over 340whp on a dynojet, 26psi tapering to 22psi according to my zeitronix map.

On the testpipe I had the same vibrant mini muffler AMS uses and got that welded into the testpipe. Believe it or not it was quieter than my Works HFC.

The other dyno was a Mustang...and the owners of the dyno are, lets say, less than savory. Since Mustangs are reconfigurable and they wanted to retune the car, the previous owner felt that the numbers were not reflecting what the car actually made. It was backed up with trap times that put it in the general neighborhood of stock BCS controlled stock cam cars.

A 3" downpipe, and a test pipe/resonated test pipe and upping the boost should get you to that goal.

Why no cams?

If you go with the ARC intake, make sure you get an UICP which will fit with it. ETS said they couldn't promise anything, so I went with the ARC UICP, but for that I also had to go with the small battery. Just somethin else to think about.

If you're worried about the noise a test pipe would bring, you could always go with a high flow cat. I have an APS 3" high flow sitting in my garage; I put on my APS test pipe about six months ago.

I think the ARC UICP is an amazing piece but it's not quite in my budget unless I find a good used one. I'm staying with the stock UICP for now as it looks like a UICP wouldn't do me any good other than engine bling because my HP goal is within the stock uicp's capabilities.

I do have 3: Perrin HFC already Again, I'm not a fan of test pipes because of noise level. I might decide to do cams later but eight now I want to see if ~330whp would keep me happy first

A. You will never be happy.
B. Cams are one of the better power-to-money parts.
C. Rock stock ECU controlled boost with a JDM MAP and GM 3 port... if you want electronic. Or just get a manual.
D. Intake fo_sho.
E. Small battery and short route IC pipes will make boost response much better.
F. Ebay O2 housing is well worth the $80.

^^Definately rock the Ecuboost...let me tell you that was the biggest change I made coming from a Hallman MBC. Held over 3psi more at redline and gained a solid 20-25whp from 5500 to redline. I wouldn't waste time with an MBC again.
