Need new clutch, debating PRICE v. NECESSITY

I have a IX MR, still on original OEM clutch thats beginning to slip (rarely, but it happens). I will prolly need a new one soon, so before that happens i wanna know what im looking at... so many things to consider... and Im debating whether its necessary to get one of those $1800 kits, or I can be just fine with the OEM one again (since i only have bolt-ons, making 340/330)...

*surely it doesnt take a genius to say "just get an Exedy Twin", but i only get one paycheck per month, so for now, i wanna see my other options.... so, what are my options? i wont be modding any further, so im stayin with 340hp/330tq... I did research, and spoke to Vendors, and of course everyone is only trying to sell their own product.

So, here are my possibilities - from easiest and cheapest, to the most advanced:

1) if, perhaps, they open it up, and tell me that i only need to replace the disc, and the rest of the parts there are perfectly fine, should i only replace the disc [its like $35!!] and stay with the oem setup (cheapest and simplest solution).

2) If, just changing the disc itself wont be enough, and the shop will tell me that the flywheel or TO bearing also needs to be replaced, should i just get the full factory OEM clutch again (its gonna be like $400 for all brand new Oem parts) ?

3) If you think that I absolutely cannot go with OEM again, then is it wise to get a no-brand-name, or a small-brand-name clutch kit for like $400-600 (there are like 5-6 unknown brands out there with clutches specifically for the Evos)???

4) Exedy twin vs. Exedy single ??? the twin is just so darn expensive, and seems to mostly benefit the higher powered cars. why do i need a 'twin' if i dont plan on making any more power than what ih ave now, and i dont race or AutoX. all i do is DD, and an occasional '2step' launch, just to get a cheap thrill, now-and-again... so, Exedy Twin seems to be unnecessary and even overkill for what i need. i feel its like getting a big brake kit for a stock corolla.

can u guys please help me!! informed suggestions only please, no random opinions...

thanks again...

EDIT:
Plenty of people are suggesting buying a used Exedy Twin... used ones go for $500-800, plus i still have to buy a $400 rebuilt kit, so whats the point ??

1. if you only need to replace your clutch and everything else looks fine then...you might end up replacing the pressure plate next before the new clutch disk is worn out...i say get at least the clutch disc and pressure plate before your paying for 2 installations
2.if you dont plan on modding anymore and not racing you should pry replace it with a stock clutch or ACT HDSS and sell the car....why own a evo if your not going to use it the way it was designed!
3.exedy twin....next option would be ACT HDSS...stay away from no name brands! you need brand names! you don't own a honda! i have the exedy twin and its getting installed next thursday so i'll most likely post up a review on my first impersions...with 340/330 i dont think the stock clutch will be good enough...believe the hype if you want to but if i were you i would get the exedy twin for sure...i got it and im at about 280 whp...it will be alot more daily driver friendly then say an ACT clutch...
4.No need to sell everything you own my clutch has been slipping for 2 months 5 days and counting...so if your clutch is starting to slip...start to save!
5.exedy twin i guess...i havent read much about the carbonetics but exedy has pry been around a little longer than the other brand....cheaper isn't always better

"YOU GET, WHAT YOU PAY FOR"
famous qoute by ?.....i'm not sure

I burned my clutch out at 300 miles, long story but it wasnt my fault, had a stock one put back in at $1200. Then had problems shifting into 3/5 so the dealer replaced some syncros, at that time the clutch wasnt looking good (i beat on this one) so i went with the ACT EVO Street Disc Clutch Kit + ACT Streelight Flywheel COMBO from lancershop.com and I love it! everyone tells me it has a heavy ped feel to it but i like it. I also have just bolt on parts and a cobb stage 2 flash. My friend has a twin disc like you want and it chatters, why i dont know but it does. good luck with whatever you pic

600 or so for the clutch kit

I have slightly higher power levels than you and have been running this clutch for 17k...very happy with it

One thought just about 95% of the clutches run Exedy Friction Material, the original OEM clutch has an Exedy Clutch in it straight from the factory. I got about 40,000 abusive miles out of my stock clutch. It is all in how you drive, I have friends with the same car, similar setups and they get far less mileage then I did on my OEM clutch.
It sounds as if you will pay someone else to do the install, in that case I would get the most clutch I could afford. You can't go wrong with ACT< Exedy<Stocker<Spec<QuarterMaster<et;al.......

i read several posts where owners regret getting the Act Hdss, claiming its bad for average street, and DD use... bad pedal feel, jerky initial grab, and harsh/rough engagement. saying its better suited for the track, where instant rough grab is more important that a smooth grab...

although, a full clutch kit for $600 brand new (3x less than an Exedy twin), how bad could it be ???

It's easy too drive a difficult clutch once you get it...

I can honestly say I can't operate a stock oem clutch for the life of me..
My Exedy twin shift's smooth as silk go figure

You can KILL an Exedy twin very fast if you ride the thing everytime you come to a stop light..

I know a guy named mike in s.d. that has 70k+ on his Twin with a lot of autoX and drag launches on top of that.. So they do Last when driven well

You really should go with the ACT .. EVERYONE does and it's more forgiving then the Exedy..

ACT 3X's MORE Forgiving

Exedy 3X's The Price

All you need is an Exedy stage 1 and resurface your flywheel. That's it. With the mods you have there is no need for anything more. The ACT HD would be fine if you want a little more but if I was your shoes, it'd be the Exedy stage 1.

I have the ACT 2600 HDSS currently and after getting used to it (took about a week), it now has a stock-like feeling. If I need to upgrade (I hardly believe it would happen) I would step up to the Exedy Twin Cerametallic and be done with it.
