Need new clutch, debating PRICE v. NECESSITY
I just bought a ACT MB7 HDSS for $500 shipped w a stainless steel clutch line. Its a great deal and a lot of ppl i've talked to before buying said ACT was the best way to go. so if you're liike me and dont plan on doing anything over 400 awhp then the ACT HDSS is best especially for the price. and just have the stock flywheel resurfaced. Total w parts and install should be around $1200. A lot cheaper than an exedy that you dont need.

im getting conflicting info.
u say that the ACT is great for average DD, yet plenty of others who tried it, say it has a weird pedal feel and pedal travel (not firm and smooth like stock). Also rough shifts and engagement... so who do i listen to ?and there's gotta be a reason why the ACT costs $500 shipped, and the Exedy Single is $1100 shipped... cant just be "brand name" ...
...oh, and ACT seems to have several models, which is best for normal driving and street applications (I only have 340awhp, and not gonna mod anymore)
hmm, so u r saying the OEM factory clutch uses the Exedy disc ???

does that mean i can just buy a $35 Exedy replacement disc on eBay (authentic Exedy discs are easily found on Ebay, and are just $35), and just replace the disc itself?? if this works, then no need to get any Exedy twins clutch kits, or ACT HDSS's, or anything like that. just replace the disc. well im sure the labor cost at the shop will still be the same (cause its still the same job for the shop to open it all up and replace), but at least i dont have to spend a grand on parts, and can just get away with $35 !!
[of course I'm assuming that all other parts in there - flywheel, TO bearing, pressure plate - are perfectly fine, and only the disc wore out. btw, I have a reason to make that assumption - that all other parts in there are as fine as could be]
someone please make sence of this all to me !!
dude just get the act... I was on the stock clutch up until 481whp!!! I put a sprung 6 puck act disc with the act HD pressure plate, shifts perfect, feels 10X better than the stock clutch
the Road Race Engineering clutch has good reviews. I had their 3200 lbs which has a stiff pedal but they make a lighter version. Check them out http://www.roadraceengineering.com/evo.htm
