Okay i know we did this on a spur of a moment type deal but i needed these cams in for saturday for a tune....now we started this talking about a tensioner but when it came to doing it we just did it

so we dont have a tensioner tool how are people putting this belt on without one...i know there is someone out there that has done it if not ill just go out and bum one from mitsu tommorow but if anyone has any advise or types to get this damn belt on let me know

 

It would be easier to get one if you can, but if not take the timing belt off and compress the tensioner in a bench vise.

 

and how would i get a bench vise in there????

i know i can not wait to get tuned by him...me and a friend are getting tuned saturday so i wantted to do the cams and head studs tonight....and work on running the meth nice and hidden tommorow i hope all goes well

get some threaded metric rod.....m8x1.25 i think

 

do i have to "modify" it in anyway

 

Grease it well and weld a bolt on the top to tighten/loosen with

 

Dont forget to bleed down the lifters.

 

lifters are already bled...does anyone a tensioner tool to give me specs on where the threading starts and how long it is?

 

its just as easy to remove it,,,,,,since you dont have to go buy the tool, i mean rod , i mean macgyver device.
I removed it and vised it just as shown above,, now get to work
