Instead of welding, just use 2 nyloc nuts back to back then thread it into the tensioner. Use the nyloc's as a place to put your socket.

the motors in the car is it really that "easy" to take it apart? to get the tensioner out?

we went and got the 8mx1.25 nuts we got 3 of them the longets one is like a 1.5 inches do we need the bolt to be fully threaded or just threaded in the middle or the top?

is the tensioner itself being pulled up toward the hood or down to loosen toward the bottom of the car to loosen the belts?? were brain storming mcguver theorys

the pictures on page 1 explain it as well as i could ,,,, i got to mine through the pass. side wheel well tire off and strut down grab your socket wrench and get to work

not to be off topic kinda but when i do my cams i can skip all of this stuff of i have the tensioner tool right? for 50 bucks or however much ams has them for it seems more worth it!

yes if i hadnt been forced to have this done by tommorow morning we would have avoided all this and have been last night at 10...so defenitly invest in a tensioner tool

you can do it with out a tensioner if your not doing cam gears and if you dont have to remove the head,, simply tie the belt to the gears use a cherry picker to hold the gear and do them one at a time,,, no retiming either yay!!!!!!!!!111

I've got crazy with zip ties when I do cams. No cherry picker needed.

I've always been a little afraid to not use the cherry picker as in using the cam itself as a lever to pull on the timing belt seems a little scary ,,, maybe im just a puss ,,,, zip ties mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

wait wait the belt is off.....i have a cherry picker how can i do this now....cause right now were still working on getting part #4 off and its being a skank i geuss a lot of dirt gets in it
