Cams vs Cams specs

hey guys ordering cams this week and need a little help. im zoned in on the cossie m3's. heard great reviews and read alot on them. heres the qeustion.

the cossie's are spec : 280/272 duration with 11.6mm lift on the intake and 11.0mm on the exhaust side.

i noticed the brian crowers are like 250 bucks cheaper and really havent ben able to find great reviews on them. heres what i found

brian crowers spec : 280/280 duration with

>Adv. Dur.: 280280br>Dur @ .050: 218216br>Lift (in): .425"/.408"
Lift (mm): 10.80/10.36 <<<<<----------------------------- THIS IS MY QEUSTION!!!

does that 10.80mm lift go to the intake cam ?
does that 10.36mm lift go to the exhaust cam ?

if so does this mean the lope is less with the brian crowers and the lift is a little lower? or is it opposite?

i need some good info i did alot of searching and now im stuck lol

its throwing me off because the cosworth m3's are 280/272 and the brian crowers are 280/280 and it seems like the cosworth M3's have more of a lift??

can someone smart on cams or motors chime in and help out a buddy on evom

thanks alot guys for any help!!

Did you take a look at the cam test AMS did? It wont get you your tech answer, but it will show you the power diff on a lot of cams. From what i heard Brian crower = poop.

I'm going on my own observation of cam specs across many different cars.

The first number in either set of specs is traditionally the intake cam. So in this case it would be..

Intake Dur 280/ Lift 10.80
Exhaust Dur 280/Lift 10.36

That is how I have always seen the numbers read off if they are not otherwise specified.

the intake ussually leads the exhaust, so the 10.8 is the intake...

Id also suggest spending the $250 on the cossy, but also know your going to need a valve spring upgrade with retainer to run a 11.6mm intake lift. also know that the spring will need to be pretty good, id suggest staying away from the single valve springs and going with either a dual spring kit or our beehive spring and retainer kit...

then again there are always our GSC S2 Evo 9 cams with intake duration of 278 and exhaust of 274 with 11.2mm intake and 11.0mm exhaust lift

Can't go wrong with the GSC S2's. My additional suggestion is that when you get the dula springs and retainer you also get the reduced diameter valve stem seals. The inner spring on the dual spring setup could pull the stock stem seals off causing an oil leak. Just my .02

Kelford

Hey EvoDom, go with Kelford 272/280 (model number 9-177-E)

Exhaust Duration (@ 1.0mm) 272 (226)
Exhaust Lift 11.00mm
Intake Duration (@ 1.0mm) 280 (238)
Intake Lift 11.50mm

I hope this helps.

Quoted on their site "FP5R camshaft grinds require a spring upgrade, it is not possible to use the factory retainers or springs due to the increase in the lift to .475" with this grind."

If you do the conversion of .475(in) = 12.07(mm). Whether its Intake or/and Exhaust that would be good question to ask them.

Anyone here switched from the Cossie M2 to M3 mivec cams?

I am considering going that route but noticed that the difference is only in the intake cam.

Any noticeable gains assuming that all other mods remain the same.

Thanx
Victor
