i have changed my tranny and tc fluids around every 8K miles which means twice so far (~17.8K miles) a can of Diaqueen will last about four changes so it isnt that pricey over time. i DD the car mostly and an occasional 1/4 mile sprints.

Changing the trans and transfer case fluid from what I've heard are just like changing the oil...Drain plug on the bottom, and fill it up from the top. Someone correct me if I'm wrong??

Difficulty level would be about the same but you may need an additional tool in order to fill the T/C and Trans....

Wow, lots of good replies. Thanks guys. Burning the crap off the clutch makes sense. And you guys are right as well about changing the fluid more often. Think I'll get right on that since I'm due for an engine oil change anyway.

Thanks fellas.

Changing the trans fluid is cake, the T-case can be a little more difficult. The best way to do it when the T-case is still in the car is to fill it from the bottom untill the fluid comes out the fill plug, put the drain plug back in and let the fluid run out of the fill untill the level is flush with the threads. This was the way that was recomended to me by Shep when I had my trans and t-case done. It can take about forever and a day to fill the t-case from the "fill" hole because the passage the fluid has to go through is so small, so when you think it's full it's really not.

I just used a simple hand pump that you can pick up at the hardware store. Just don't over fill anything because seal leaks suck! I thought I had a bad axle seal when the t-case was just overfull. Popped the fill plug back out and let it drain (for 5-10min) capped er' back off and the leak was gone.

The rear diff will probably be the easiest thing you ever have to do on the car besides putting fuel in it.
