That whole breaking parts thing that you mentioned didn't make any sense to me, I just didn't want to comment on it. The entire point of the red turbo was to compete with a "35R" type turbo, but remain in a stock framed turbo shell. Instead of having to buy an entire 35R turbo kit, what Robert did was create a stock framed turbo with larger internal components (compressor and turbine) that flows MUCH more than the stock IX turbo and the Green. If you do not want to spend a ton of money on an aftermarket turbo kit, then the Red is a great compromise to price and power output. At full tilt, running race gas and all the other supporting mods, the Red has performed incredibly. Likewise, the 35R type turbo has also. In my opinion, a 35R will outperform a red with ALL the same components at full tilt. Now I'm not putting down the Red whatsoever by stating that, and others are more than welcome to prove me wrong, but these are from results that I have seen personally. You already have a 35R, there is no reason why you shouldn't just go ahead and use it. 35Rs transform the car completely, and in my opinion, in a great way.

 

And yes, as Pete has mentioned, my car is slow.

Go with the PTE6262. It's cheaper than a 35r, spools up the same, and makes more power.

 

57 trim is absolute garbage in terms of flow and pressure for an Evo, of any of the standard t3 type hybrids the 50 trim would be a much better option. I'm not a great fanboy of the 35r like most other people are on here, I personally feel the usable power range on the street becomes rather limited, and I absolutely hate more lag. I'm a believer in having less peak power but a much more usable power band. If that sounds more of the route you'd rather go, maybe you should talk to CBRD about having your IX upgraded to their BBK.

Also, it looks like you're going to need much more injector than 680's for your power goal, at least a 780 or 880 to be on the safe side.

 

Al has a video on his youtube Dynoflash channel tuning a 57trim Evo...check that out and see the actual results of this turbo for yourself. In response to your question...35R all the way.

 

I think the 57 trim gets more of a bad rap than it deserves IMO. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a great turbo, but mine is making 470+ hp on an 8 with stock cams on e85 and still fairly decent spool (although it is quite surge-prone as many have said). Now, with that said you're best option of the turbos you own is the 35r.

Thanks guys for all the input i think i come to the conclusion to sell the 57 trim and use that money to make me a red with stock turbo. use the 35R until my red gets done and then sell 35r kit..
just bc i feel as if the power will kick in faster and be better red light to red light turbo. I not going to try to get the most out or be the fastest hwy guy i just want to have fun car and i thank yall for helping me decide....

i dont know how in the world people compare fpreds to 35rs there is a huge difference for those of you that dont know, fpred its a great turbo but it has no top end , it has no mph i have a a couple of friends that have fpreds everytime we run at 40 mph roll they get a nasty jump do to quicker spooling but once my 35r gets into boost i spank them. .... i had a red on my car and it was great with mid range power and top end but once i went with the 35r the difference was night and day ... 35rs pulls so hard that ull be stuck t ur seat. 35r is the way to go
