I have seen this once before on an Evo. The spark plug may not have been installed correctly or threaded in all the way and it then worked its way out. It is very likely when it only had a few threads left holding it in the head, the explosion in the cylinder pushed the spark plug out messing up the last few threads in the head. It may be possible to get the spark plug back in without messing up the head any further. Call the shop on Monday and make an appointment. Get it towed over and we can look at it.

Do not attempt to force the spark plug back into the head. You can mess it up further.

How are you checking compression on that cylinder if the threads are stripped out?

well thats true we did not realize that the threads were stripped and we got it to go in a little, tested it, took it out, and went to check the compression again and it would not screw back in...how much would it cost to look at it, do you have any idea?

Assuming the threads arent too messed up, its a matter of running a tap in the head to clean the threads up. This needs to be done correctly or you can cross thread it which reduces the ability of the head to hold the spark plug in. The tap needs to be dipped in grease to keep any chips from falling into the cylinder. It should take less than an hour to get the threads sorted out (again, assuming they arent too bad) or to determine the head needs to be replaced. Fixing the melted wiring is hard to put a time on but I would assume less than an hour.

If you do not bring it to AMS, please have a reputable shop inspect / attempt to repair. The head can easily be messed up more than it is now. Too messed up and the head will need to be replaced which will not be cheap.

I am just a mechanic in the back. I do not make those types of decisions. I would call and discuss your situation with one of the sales guys on Monday. I am sure they can work something out for you.

Wish I could be of more help.

Just get a helicoil spark plug kit and you'll be good to go. Its way cheaper than a new head and it works perfectly. I've been through this a billion times on many different cars.

You should learn to install spark plugs

I kid.

Keep us updated, I'm curious as to what the knocking problem ends up being.

I'm not sure if your knocking problem is caused by a engine problem or a missing spark plug. If your car is missing a spark plug, there will definitely be a "knocking sound" so if you helicoil the messed up threads you should at least have the noise associated with that problem fixed. Having your combustion chamber exposed through the spark plug hole will definitely cause some racket to be heard from under the hood. Its hard to really tell what your problem is since we are unable to hear or see anything on your car, and you've done a pretty **** poor job of describing the problem due to your mechanical inexperience.

well thank you for the idea im definitly going to try it before i get my car towed to ams, but sorry i dont know really anything about the engine and its kinda hard to explain something you dont know too much about and explaing incorrectly, and in return having false input

No worries man, not everyone was born with all this knowledge

Even if you had a better idea of how things worked this kind of thing would still perplex most people.
