Sounds like it could be spark plugs, when is the last time they were changed?

have you checked the oil in it. It might be a rod bearing.

boost leak, ?? If not maybe something mor serious like jumped t belt or broken piston. Really need more info , check the plugs, oil , timing (make sure the marks all line up) and look for boost leaks

+1, that's your best bet. Noone can give you an answer just by reading ' loud knocking noise'.

If you are hearing a knocking sound, DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR. You are causing more and more damage to an engine which already needs to be rebuilt. If you continue to drive the car, I'm sure you will be not so pleasantly suprised by being left stranded on the side of the road with two fist sized holes in your engine block.

+1...hopefully it's nothing too serious, but don't risk hurting it if it's not already. You won't regret it.

UPDATE.....when i woke up today i pulled off the spark plug cover and the 3rd spark plug from the left was completly shot out and the wires were burnt to ****. the spark plug gap was pushed all the way up and the threads were stripped...i checked the compression its at 90...haha. the wire harness to the right of the engine block that plugs into the spark plug wires was melted also.
