off of DB's recommendation i think i'm gonna get just the belts and tensioner since i have only 18K miles on my car right now. still searching for a shop to do this in. i live in south georgia so i might just go to orlando or atlanta (topspeed). i need to contact those guys today and see what they charge for this.

Take it to the dealer if you only have 18k.

well the nearest dealer is around 2 -2.5 hrs away. unless there is one in tallahasse but the car has been modded and stupid me i got rid of the stock cat. lesson learned. i figured since mitsu is picking with these cars that it probably wouldnt be worth trying especially since the dealership is not down the road.

I'm in a similar boat, nearest dealer is over an hour away. BR is only 45 miuntes

I'd still try the dealer, as long as you don't have cams, aftermarket cam gears etc., they shouldn't mess with you. A faulty tensioner is not something I think they can "trace" back to you having a catless exhaust.

Either way, I hope you get it all worked out. I wish I only had 18K miles on my car, LOL.

well i looked into the mitsubishi site and the closest dealer is ~1.5hrs north of me. i'll probably call them and see what they can do. hopefully its not a small dealership that doesnt know what an Evo is. believe it or not the dealership we had here didnt know what an Evo was lol

that's not surprising, I had a girl at the local dealership tell me my twin turbo stealth didn't have an intercooler...I even told her I had the car right out side the door there and she refused to come look to see for herself because she had the schematic right in front of her

I never went back there, idiots.

I have mine in at the local dealership right now getting the tensioner replaced. Mine is making the same noise as the link in post #4. I have 35k on my 9. They are also replacing the belts while they are in there as I haven't done that 30k service belt change. I am paying for the belts as they are not the problem but hey, free labor for my 30k service.
