gears

i have a quick question ive read alot about having bad syncros. i had tCs before having my evo. and i notice that the shifting is MUCH smoother in the tC, is it cause of the syncro that everyone mentions about? or is the shifting in the evo just like that....i must say my friend's evo wasnt this tough to shift but it was new. i have 33.5k miles on it. and it should still be under warranty for the gears if i need to change it thanks guys

What is a tc? Anyways, no one on here can see or feel how your car shifts so who the hell knows. Try to test drive someone elses Evo. In my opinion the Evo transmission shifts very nicely, its not the best shifting transmission but its OK. If it was abused, its very possible that the syncro's are worn out and you should try switching the transmission fluid to a high end synthetic (i.e. BG II, AMSOIL, Redline, etc.). If the new fluid doesn't improve anything, remove your transmission and send it to sheptrans.com for a rebuild. Good luck!

A tC is a car made by Scion. Compared to my Integra the Evo definitely doesnt shift as smooth but im pretty sure every Evo is like that. The transmission in my Evo is a little notchy but since Ive changed the drivetrain fluids its not as bad. Unless your transmission grinds in the higher RPM's (like my Integra did in 3rd gear above 4500RPM's) I think your syncro's are fine. It's just the way Evo tranny's are.
