thinking about an fp green,or cbrd full..
i have done all the boltons, and now its either cams,or a bigger turbo..I know ill need injectors..I guess my question is if you guys had the funds which way would you go..From what ive read, cams dont gain as much on the evo 9..But,i can have my turbo built into either of these turbos..Any suggestions??And i already tried to search, and didnt find what i was looking for..Justin
Were your dyno numbers on 93 octane pumpgas and the stock intercooler?
A lot of people say that the switch from the IX turbo to a Green is not that worthwhile, especially if you will be running pumpgas. The Green shines at over 25 PSI. To run 25 PSI or higher through the Green on pump you'll need to pull out a few degrees from the timing table. So there is a tradeoff. So, if you'll be running pump gas then the jump from the IX to the Green turbo is not that worthwhile.
Although the Green and the BBK flow about the same amount of air(49ish). The BBK spools a bit quicker and is a better pumpgas turbo. In Cali, and on 91 octane, the BBK on an Evo IX, is laying down significantly higher dyno numbers than the Green could. So, on pumpgas, the BBK is a no brainer.
So, if I had a IX, for me it would boildown to a choice between the BBK-Full and the FP Red. Will you be running straight pumpgas in a daily driven IX(=BBK)? Or, will you be using occasional higher octane race gas, corn fuel, or Meth(=Red)?

Sparky is correct as this is the decision many of us are making. Personally, I have an E85 station less than three miles from my house, so after I get back from Iraq, the FP Red will find a home guzzling down E85.

lol like i said before it kind of does matter what your using your car for but look at the prices on each of these turbos seriously.
(rounded figures)
green 1695
red 1799
bbk lite 1200
bbk full 1695
tomei 1695
the pricing of each is right around each other so its not a matter of prices but a matter of what you do with the car. I personally think the red is the complete choice because of room to grow into. if you gonna spend that much turbo better last awhile and not be pushing its limits already when bought. but again that depends on alot of factors tuner mods etc. just get what you can AFFORD dont need to be buying something just to post it for sale because you cant afford it later. OR like some want more power so then want to upgrade
turbo again. Think seriously about how much hp you want to get then that will choose your turbo for you. they all have there limits Good luck
