Ive had the Extreme pressure plate with the unsprung 6 puck. Clutch was like an on/off switch, and i loved it. The only thing i didnt like was the "clutch noise" on decel. It was very loud and sounded like i had nuts and bolts loose in the tranny. After 6-8 months of the 6 puck disc, I swapped out for the Street disc. Still grabs like a mo fo and is now quite on decel. Only downfall now is the occasional lock out.

my research with ACT is avoid spring with the Evo. Puck clutches suck for street driving. If I were to install one on my Evo I would go ffor the XTSS

I just picked up the 6 puck sprung, HD disc, prolite flywheel. <<<<Prays for no lockout issues!

I've driven the exact same clutch on my friends EVO 8, and it was very streetable. In fact I had no idea it was a puck clutch at all. Felt exactly like my HDSS (act street disk).
Also have a 6 puck stage 5 SBC in my SRT-4 that is very streetable. Yes puck clutches grab but unless you can't drive stick very well, it's just as easy as a street disk, IMO.

We don't have monster engines. A lot of times we have a lot less torque than HP with bigger turbos. So an Evo with 500whp might only have 400 ft lbs or less. So you would only need a clutch rated for about 500 ft lbs since clutches are not rated at torque to the wheels. With things being equal; same amount of disks, driving style etc. A clutch rated for more torque would probably not last as long as a clutch rated for less even at the same power level. Either because of the material of the disk or just how the clutch drives. So save money and get the proper clutch for your goals.

Edit: Not directed at you rdwngs44. People who butt into clutch threads that have nothing to do with the Exedy or with someone not asking for clutch recommendations with comments about how great Exedy twins are need to butt out. This thread is about an ACT clutch.

I have the HD pressure plate and sprung 6 puck clutch. I like it. Drives well and I know it can handle the power goals I have for my Red. Best thing is I can buy 3 of the Act clutches for the price of an Exedy twin. Each of the 3 ACT clutches will last as long or longer than the Exedy as well.

I ve had the HD-G6 sprung hub 6 puck in my car for about 6 months (about 7 thousand miles). I really like it so far. I havent had any lockout issues and it grabs really well. Its a bit more harsh than a full face disk but nothing that you cant get used to.

i run a 6-puck in my car with fidanza flywheel....ive had my ups and downs with it......it DOES grab like a ***** which is cool sometimes but i dont know..sometimes i get tired of the clutch as i do a lot of daily driving ...there is nothing wrong with it though..anyone who has driven my car likes it...unless they cant drive stick..then they hate it..lol..i've thought of switching to an exedy twin disk, but not sure it's worth the price when the act seems to work just fine. i do hope it holds up to 500 cause thats what my future plans are..if not ill just start saving for an exedy that i know can handle it...i dunnoo i've been up and down with the 6-puck...i do know one thing..my wife hates it..haha
