Anyone dyno stock vs. Forge/etc DV's?
I've read about how the stock DV on the EVO can leak. I just replaced mine with the Forge DV and the cars "feels" a lot better. One thing that I noticed with the stock valve was that when I go full throttle from about 3k to something like 5k (in 4th or 5th gear) I notice the car hesitate a little at points. After I installed the Forge unit (and tightened down all the hose clamps) I don't notice that hesitation anymore. I'm wondering if this is something that you could see on a Dyno or not. I probably should have Dyno'd my car before doing this install, but the closest Dyno that I know of is in Pleasanton (Vishnu), and I was impatient!
I noticed a big improvement in transient response with the forge DV VS. the stocker. Especially when you're doing fast shifts from redline, the boost is back much faster vs. stock. It was a great upgrade, except for the little bit of surge I get every so often when I don't drive around it.

Just thinking that the yellow ... although holding boost the best ... is a little to tight. What do you guys think? What color spring are you using?
I'm running whatever was shipped with the DV. I have the red, yellow, and green springs still, so I guess I have the blue in there. I'm not sure what tension that is though, but it seems to work ok. Today is only my 2nd day with it installed, so we'll see how it does.
Hey guys,
I was having a little stumbling in 5th gear at partial throttle with the regular spring (should be blue). Turns out it was due to a crimp in the hose leading to the vac nipple (I am teeing here for my MBC). I think the vac was not operating optimally and making the valve open a little to leak. I'm not sure if the spring would have helped in my situation, since the spring holds it against boost, but vac makes it open.
Thoughts?

I replaced my vaccum line with one that was longer since the stock line was too short because the DV's vaccum input was in a different position. I didn't drive the car with a crimped line, so I'm not sure if the spring change would fix your problem or not. I'll play around a little today with coming off partial throttle and whatnot and let you know what I find out.

I'm getting a little bit of surge every now & then as well ... actually, the car tends to "buck" or rock slightly. I'm using the yellow spring. What spring are you guys using? I was thinking of going to a "slightly" loser spring .... blue maybe?

When I tried (I'm running peak boost of 20.5psi, btw) the green spring it felt good, but just didnt seem to hold the boost as well at the top..
For reference guys this is the order of spring tension (going from soft to hard):
1.) Green
2.) Yellow
3.) Blue (what usually comes installed)
4.) Red (very hard and usually isn't needed til you run 25+psi)
And for anyone who's wondering, we got them in stock right now for 169.95 shipped!

Renn ... as stated in my post ... I'm currently using the "yellow" spring. I was under the impression that the yellow is slightly stiffer than the blue -- not the other way around. Are you sure about this? I want to switch to the next spring down in tension. Right now I'm using yellow, and I'm running 20 psi ... yet I spike 22 psi at times. The green just seems like it would not hold boost well enough .... but I need to get rid of the surge. My vacuum lines seems okay (no kinks. etc). ... what to do?

What kind of surge do you mean?.. You mean the spike to 22?.. that can have to do with a lot of factors.. weather mainly.. Other types of surging I haven't heard anyone have issues with.. so that might be something else with your car.. perhaps the boost controller...
I have tried all combinations of adjustment on my Forge DV...the things been on and off about 12 times...
Every time I have experienced the revs not wanting to drop when I dipped the clutch to change gear...like I had my foot on the gas for a fraction of a second..is it supposed to do this?
Would someone in Evoland explain to me why this thing is so fantastic....and the theory of how it helps the turbo spool quicker cos I aint seeing it
It looks nice and shiny....but at the moment it is sat on my work bench looking pretty...please input...thanks

I just installed the Forge into my friend's EVO yesterday.. I first tried the red. Massive surge, wasn't allowing the air to blow out... Changed it to the yellow, Seems ok (BTW, the yellow and blue are almost the exact same, yellow is a tad bit harder).. But, we cannot hear ANYTHING.. Does the Forge make any noise?? My Greddy Type-S, is loud as hell, but no sound comes from the Forge.. I think that maybe the vacuum line could be a little longer.. It could be a little crimped.. Any comments??
