You're on E85? If you are you'll probably need to upgrade to 1200cc injectors and double pump those if you're going with Red. Cams would be a good idea too.

i dont even see why to upgrade for you. You said you rarely drive the car. do not drive during rain winter only drag twice mostly just sits. WHY EVEN WASTE THE MONEY. put it torwards something else. Why even bother sinking money into a car you rarely drive. To be like everybody else you say?!?!!? How would we even know if your car is a garage Queen . In your case best turbo you could buy is none.

Some corn fuel user out there will be able to tell you whether your current fueling setup will be good enough for the Green on corn. Is the single Walbro and the 850 nozzles sufficient for a Green on E85, guys?

Since you are running E85 that means higher boost right? So, I would just bypass the Green and go Red. The cams are important as well. Do it all.

The Green is old but still has its merits. There are newer turbos, CBRD BBK and Tomei, which appear to be better. The FP Red is a entirely different category.

David, above, had already answered my question about fueling for the Red. Thanks.

The general consensus seems to be that if you are already going from a IX turbo, then skip the Green altogether and jump straight to the Red. The power difference between an average tune on a Green setup and a fully maxed out, perfectly tuned, IX turbo setup is relatively small, and not worth it IMO. You´ll find this out if you should decide to do the Green.

You´ll lose a little spoolup if going from a IX to a Green turbo. There will only be about a 30-40 WHP difference between IX and Green, I think. Whereas, with the Red on E85 you could easily see a 20% increase in power. If you´re not going to go Red then stick with the IX turbo and get some cams. Then have Mellon, Mike at AWD, Razorlab, English, or Sean Ivey max out the tune.

Also, if you drag race it once in a while then you´ll kick yourself for not doing the Red right off the bat. The IX is a great little turbo and the Green isn´t going to be that big of a difference. If you don´t want to give up spoolup, but still want more power then I would look at the CBRD BBK Full, or the new Tomei ARMS.

If you're planning with sticking with a full bolt on IX, but never going to run race gas, meth, e85, would that change the opinion of what most of you guys are saying?
I'd say BBK, but that's not exactly the question. From what I understand though, the BBK is similar to the green, while making similar, though unquestionably lower power than the Red.

bbk makes more power than the green, with little loss in spool over a stock turbo...

as for it and the red, id run the red if you plan on higher boost pressures it makes great power when u crank it up.

The one option the BBK full provides is good numbers on 91 oct. This is not a easy deal here
in Cali. I personally wish I had one instead of a green.

I'm in the same dilemma, have driven it about 5000 miles the last 2 years and have changed oil like 4 times

But, when friends roll up to you on the hwy and they pull like 3 inch per second on you. That's frustrating! That's the reason why I look for more power!
